  @Solla-topee

Hello,

I have got the same issue with the Tapo C560WS cameras

bought on Black Friday.

Unfortunately, this issue makes the camera absolutely useless.

After following an object camera shifts to the random location and stuck on it, not recording my desires location anymore. If the viewpoint has been previously saved, by chosing this previously saved viewpoint camera will shift to it's shifted viewpoint (thinking it's the correct one I have saved previously).

I'm from EU (DE) using the latest available firmware up to date:

Version:1.1.2 Build 251018 Rel.39803n

Looks like it's global issue with the this type of cameras.

Looking forward returning the cameras. Sadly, because otherwise cameras are great.

Hi All,
If your Tapo C660 or Tapo C560WS does not return to the original position properly after tracking (e.g., the camera's viewpoint is offset), please refer to the instructions below for further assistance.

What to do if the Tapo Pan/Tilt camera can't return to its original position properly after tracking
Best Regards

@ToddA1 I've had these about 3 months. The problem has always been there. It seems like it may to do it less if I don't have any saved views, but not totally convinced about that yet.

@DougS42  How many do you have, and how many have the issue?  All C660 solar?

Another unrelated gripe I have is with the solar panels.  Winter in NJ has been taxing the batteries... the solar panels can't keep up.  I've had cameras go dead, or already constantly in the red.

I'd imagine they'd be fine in summer...  seems the 2W panels were fine for the fixed cameras, so they decided to reuse them for the PT cams, which use more power.

@Solla-topee im having the same issue with my c660. Sometimes it will track and work when it's not working right it looks off to the immideate right of my viewpoint then it won't detect anything until I login to the app and look at what it's doing. I just set the viewpoint back a little bit ago maybe 5 minutes.

@Solla-topee I've tried all those trouble shooting tips and still nothing corrects the problem. How do I request a replacement camera. I'm now running the latest firmware (V1.1.7) and as far as I can tell it didn't change anything.

@ToddA1 I have two of the C660 Kit cameras, both solar. For me (Pacific NW) the solar has been working fine.

@DougS42 You're lucky... I just had to invest in larger solar panels, to keep them on 24/7 recording.  One camera is currently in the garage charging.  As mentioned, east coast winter doesn't provide enough sunlight for these cameras and the 2W panels.

Back on topic, all four of my C660 kits are experiencing the issue.  Some do it less, but they still do it.  0° weather made the motion tracking very choppy.

I bought a C560WS, which is the wired version of the C660... it has the same issue, so it's not just the solar cams. Turning motion tracking off, doesn't fix the issue, although this defeats paying more for a PTZ cam.

If I had to do it again, I'd buy fixed cams or another brand of PTZ cams.  Based on what I've experienced, I'd tell people to steer clear of these cams, based on the original issue and the underpowered solar panels.  I'm curious if Tapo will ever figure this out....
