Hello, I recently purchased three C660 kits, within the past three weeks.  All are running the latest firmware, and limited trigger areas, to prevent nonstop notifications..  All cameras have four set viewpoints, with the first being what I leave the cameras set to, and will consider "home".  After detecting an event the camera will track, then should return to home, after the event ends.

I'll find one camera doesn't always return to the home viewpoint.  It will show several degrees off, zoned in on my neighbor's property.  If I try to view any of the other set viewpoints, it will show all at least 20° off.  They'll be facing the side of my house, or other random viewpoints , which I didn't save.

I've tried:

- resetting these viewpoints numerous times
- pan/ tilt correction, many times
- rebooting the camera from the app

- deleting and reconfiguring the camera.  This solved the issue for about 48 hours.  The random home view will return around every 24 hours or so.

It's odd that this issue is only afflicting one camera... the other two work flawlessly.  Should I assume this camera is defective, and needs to be returned?   I haven't tried turning motion tracking off, to see if it would keep the viewports correct, but it defeats the purpose of buying these cameras.

Any help is appreciated!

I am having the same issue with one of my C660. Both I have are running firmware 1.1.3, one retirns to "Center" every time after 30 seconds of non-activity, they other does sometimes but not all the time.

They are both configured exactly the same regarding detection, video, storage, etc...

I even created Viewpoints and the one that does not reset to center every time also changes the position of the viewpoint nd they do not align with what I had saved. Example, one was point to the center of my driveway, when I access that view point, this morning is was facing the wall of my home and could not even manually pan as it said thet was as far as it would go. Rebot and mack to normal... for now.

Hi,
You can refer to the troubleshooting steps in the thread below for assistance.
What to do if the Tapo Pan/Tilt camera can't return to its original position properly after tracking
Best Regards

  @RonValkenburg definitely sounds like you're having the same issue as I am.  Please update...

I mentioned turning off auto tracking, as a test... I did it the next day.  The camera eventually moved on its own; I'd estimate 48-72 hours later.  This camera is getting returned.   I've had it just under 30 days....  I probably waited 3-5 days before getting it installed.

In my first post, I mentioned this was the only camera of 3, with the issue.  Another camera started having the same issue. I noticed this Wednesday, when I started getting a lot of notifications, for areas which weren't in my detection zones.  Not only did the camera home view move, but all of the detection zones moved.

The people detection zone is a fairly narrow band, which runs across the front lawn, parallel to the the front of my house.  I didn't want notifications if I came out of the front door, and walked to the garage.  I also didn't want notifications of people walking on the sidewalk.  I'd get notifications if people crossed this band, walking up the driveway, or across the lawn, towards the house.  This narrow band was no longer parallel to the house, it now ran diagonal, across the sidewalk, into the street.

  @ToddA1

I haveopened a case and working with tech support engineers to address this issue, I think it is a hardware fault. When the camera does not re-center, I will reboot the camera and it still will not go back to true center, I reboot it again andit goes to a different center and again and again.

I did a factory reset and the camera starts out in its true center and then after config, same as my other C660 that works, the problem comes right back. The camera also has full physical range of motion, during reboot it moves freely for that 360* range and cyckles full tilt as well.

If it is a firmware/software issue I would be suprised as i would assume my other C660 would do the same thing.

  @RonValkenburg I'm curious to see where this goes.

I initiated the return of the one camera, and installed the new camera on the old camera mount.  Set up the camera, updated the firmware, captured the same 4 viewpoints, and the detection zones.  This occurred yesterday morning, around 11am.  I just looked at the viewpoints, and they shifted in less than 24 hours.

There was a notification, which recorded a neighbor across the street.  The people detection zone went back to default, where it captured the entire view.  The pet and vehicle zones shifted angle, as another camera did.

Another note... the tilt view isn't the same on the new camera.  The old camera would view across the street, and I could see the front doors of a few houses.  The new cameras max upward tilt view showed across the street, but was limited to just beyond the curb.  I was second guessing myself, about the old view, but went back to previous day, and confirmed what I'd thought.  Again, the old mount was reused, and it never moved.

I'm now considering canceling the return.  The camera may physically be fine, but if it's a firmware issue, it may be able to be corrected. Please update your issue.

  @Solla-topee

The firmware update did not help my situation, I am continuing to work with the engineer that has been assigned.

All of my cameras are running the 1.1.3 firmware, and are set to auto update.

Is there a newer version, available?  The last camera was a new install and 1.1.3, was the firmware update loaded into it.

Do you know if you were running 1.1.3?  Did they give you something newer?
