Tapo C660 not returning to home
Tapo C660 not returning to home
Hello, I recently purchased three C660 kits, within the past three weeks. All are running the latest firmware, and limited trigger areas, to prevent nonstop notifications.. All cameras have four set viewpoints, with the first being what I leave the cameras set to, and will consider "home". After detecting an event the camera will track, then should return to home, after the event ends.
I'll find one camera doesn't always return to the home viewpoint. It will show several degrees off, zoned in on my neighbor's property. If I try to view any of the other set viewpoints, it will show all at least 20° off. They'll be facing the side of my house, or other random viewpoints , which I didn't save.
I've tried:
- resetting these viewpoints numerous times
- pan/ tilt correction, many times
- rebooting the camera from the app
- deleting and reconfiguring the camera. This solved the issue for about 48 hours. The random home view will return around every 24 hours or so.
It's odd that this issue is only afflicting one camera... the other two work flawlessly. Should I assume this camera is defective, and needs to be returned? I haven't tried turning motion tracking off, to see if it would keep the viewports correct, but it defeats the purpose of buying these cameras.
Any help is appreciated!

Yes, I was running 1.1.3, the latest one in the app the engineer told me is now 1.1.4
But I am seemingly stuck in a infinate loop as I do the update to 1.1.4, says it is now running 1.1.4 but then also says there is an update still available. Oh and the upgrade to 1.1.4 did not resolve my problem, even after a reboot, the 1 camera does not return to center.

So odd. I got my replacement camera today, It was configured about an hour ago, but I haven't mounted it yet. It required an update, but it loaded 1.1.3.
I wonder is 1.1.4 is still in the testing stage. Typically, when updates are available, they list the bugs they're addressing. Was our issue one of the supposed bugs?

The 1.1.4 Firmware was presented as a test to potentially address this issue, it showed up in the available updates this morning, screen shot attached.

Just started the RMA process as I assume they have come to the conclusion, they can not fix it.

That's discouraging.... the camera I installed yesterday seems to be doing fine, but it may be too early to tell.
Last Thursday, I mentioned another camera started having the same issue, and all of the detection zones shifted. A simple reboot seemed to clear this one up.
Sunday, I did a complete reset and reconfiguration to the new camera which moved, in less than 24 hours. It seemed to fix this one, although the limited vertical view was unchanged. I installed other C660s to this mount, and they had the expected view. I ended up moving this camera to an area, which didn't need the additional vertical view.
In the end, I have 4 of these cameras mounted and running fine(?). 3 of these 4 had the issue where they wouldn't return to home, but 2 were able to be salvaged, and 1 got returned. One has a view that doesn't match the other 3, but as mentioned, where it's mounted it doesn't matter, but it's still a defect...
The chance that we're the only two afflicted with this issue is slim. I'm guessing others are just dealing with it....

I am having this same issue also. Running FW 1.1.5 Build 251205 Rel. 74991n.
I have two of these cameras, only 1 seems to be affected.

Has the issue always existed? How long have you owned them?
Of the four that I have, I think only one is trouble free. I have auto update chosen, and see (2) were updated to 1.1.5, while (2) still remain on the original 1.1.3. The one trouble free cam is still running 1.1.3.
I figured all four would have been updated at the same time, but apparently not. I have 3 of these mounted at the front of the house and with the wide view, I could have gotten away with fixed cameras, but too late now, lol. I do have a dead spot on the rear of my house, so I may move one of the front cams to the rear, and replace the front with a fixed wired cam.
Not sure if the issue is with the model, but I have (2) PTZ C211s, and they don't have this issue.

Hi,
The Tapo C660's latest official firmware version 1.1.5 Build 251205 Rel.74991n is being released, and some cameras may not receive it. It's recommended to wait patiently for the new firmware to be released to your cameras.
