Firmware Version: 1.1.7 Build 20250529 rel.12784(5553)

Hello!

I recently started having some strange issues with my TP Link network.  The main router is a BE900 attached to a Comcast modem

Model: CGM4981COM.  Secondary 6E routers, AX5400 Pro and AX21, extend the wireless through the house.  Within the last several weeks I noticed the AX21 randomly dropping off the network and then reconnecting.  Starting yesterday the BE90 wired connections started doing the same thing, dropping connections to the modem.  When it was connected it was very slow.  I ran through all the testing of the modem and it passed everything.  When I go into the admin console for the BE900 it randomly is disconnecting me.  This happens while I am in the console and just when trying to login.  A "device disconnected" message appears on the web page.  So I can't even reliably even check settings in the admin console.  Is this a case of needing to do a factory reset of all three routers or what?

Hello @robbhar

Thank you for posting on the TP-Link Community.

Could you please confirm how the BE900, AX5400 Pro, and the AX21 connected? Are both the AX5400 Pro and the AX21 connected to the BE900 via Ethernet cables? Try temporarily disconnecting them from the network to confirm whether you can connect to the BE900's web admin console.

What are the hardware and firmware versions of the AX5400 Pro and the AX21?

Sorry I should have been clearer.  There are 2 AX21s and 1 AX5400 all connected through Easy Mesh.  I ended up purchasing another BE900, but it is now doing the same thing as the older one.  I disconnected all three Easy mesh systems and now I can get into the admin console without disconnecting.  I then disconnected one by one to see which of the easy mesh routers is causing the problem.  Right now it is only connected with the AX5400 and seems to be stable, do you know if there have been issues with the AX21 and easy mesh?

Not actually.

Is the EasyMesh network stable when you disconnect the two AX21s?

What is the hardware and firmware version of the AX21? AFAIK, only AX21_V3/V3.6 and newer hardware support EasyMesh and Ethernet Backhaul. That means, if yours are AX21_V1.20/V1.26/V2.0/V2.60, you cannot connect them to the main BE900 to build an Easymesh network.

You may try switching them to AP Mode and connecting them to the BE900 via Ethernet cables to extend the network.

Without the two AX21s the network is stable.  One says version 4.6 and the other says US/5.6.  The 5400 though is only version 1.6.  After upgrading the firmware on the AX21s neither shows on the BE900 as able to connect for easy mesh anymore.

@robbhar That's weird.

Both AX21 V4.6 and V5.6 should support EasyMesh. The latest firmware for them:

Archer AX21(US)_V4.6_1.1.3 Build 20250904

Archer AX21(US)_V5.60_1.1.2 Build 20250814

Please try resetting them to factory defaults, and follow this FAQ to add them back to the mesh network again.

Re:BE900 disconnect problems
Thursday

  @Kevin_Z

OK with a little bit of experimenting I determined that it was the wifi 6 devices that were the issue.  So in summary I have the following hooked up:

  • BE24000 v2.6 wifi 7
  • AX21 v5.6 wifi 6
  • AX21 v4.6 wifi 6
  • AX5400 v1.6 wifi 6
  • BE400 v1.6 wifi 7 (new)

All have the latest firmware.  The only devices that work without problems are the two wifi 7 routers, BE24000 & BE400.  If I try to add any of the wifi 6 devices I all the other devices will drop off and the BE24000 starts having issues again.  I have ordered two BE11000 wifi 7 range extenders to replace the wifi 6 devices.  Strange but true, it took me several hours of plugging and unplugging to determine what the issue was.  Any thoughts?
