Model: Deco X55
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.10 Build 20241105

I have the some Govee devices - H5080 Smart Plugs with Firmware 1.00.22 and H702B Outdoor String Lights Firmware 1.02.17.

I have tried over and over again to get them to connect to my IoT network to no luck.

The IoT network is pretty basic - 2.4 GHz Only, I have a password with letter and numbers only and have about 28 other devices that connect without issues.

The T-Mobile modem that I have in front of the Decos has the ability to broadcast a SSID so for now I created a hidden SSID with only 2.4 GHz with a different name as my Mesh IoT and the same exact password. The Govee devices connect to that network no problem.

It just doesn't make sense to me as to why they'll connect to the modem / router directly, but not to the Deco Mesh network.

I ran into the same thing with my Rain Bird water controller too.

It just seems like the IoT network is got something wonky.

Hi, would there be any error message when the smart plugs failed to connect to the Deco IoT network?

Please try to disable "Beamforming" and "Fast Roaming" under Deco App>More>Advanced.

How about the wireless security mode on the IoT network? Does it help to set the security mode to “WPA2” only?

If we set the "hidden SSID" on the T-Mobile modem to the same SSID as Deco, after disabling the hidden SSID, will it be able to switch to the Deco IoT SSID?

If you're interested, it is also suggested to test the 1.3.1 firmware here:

Deco X50/X55_V1.3_1.3.1 Introduced Channel Selection, WiFi Access Control and WireGuard VPN

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

@David-TP, no error messages, just won't connect. It just sits and spins at "Connecting to Wi-Fi..."  and then says "Failed to connect to Wi-Fi" vs. with the T-Mobile SSID on the FX4100 (this is the Modem/Router provided) the device connects within seconds.

I have disabled those two options now and have also done the Firmware upgrade. I also changed it to WPA2.

I haven't tried naming the FX4100 to the same SSID as the IoT SSID yet and then disabling it.

@David-TP I'm just starting to wonder if the IoT network on these devices is truly a 2.4 Ghz network. The reason I say that is because when I reboot, I'll see all my IoT devices connecting and they show up under the "Main Network" initially and then they get pushed to the IoT Network under "Online Clients"

I'm getting frustrated because I just had my Ring Doorbell and a Ring Indoor camera now not wanting to connect to the IoT network.

The whole reason I purchased the X55 was so that I could have whole home coverage, but it's really causing me more frustration at this point. I'm wondering if I need to just get a single high powered router because this Mesh Network doesn't seem like it's doing what it promises.

Subject: [Forum Escalation][ID 852024] Govee Plugs Won't Connect to IoT Network
Thread URL:  https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/852024
Model&Version: Deco X55_V1.3_1.3.1
Description:
Govee H5080 Smart Plugs with Firmware 1.00.22 and H702B Outdoor String Lights Firmware 1.02.17 can't connect to the IoT network.
No error messages, just won't connect. It just sits and spins at "Connecting to Wi-Fi..."  and then says "Failed to connect to Wi-Fi".
The IoT network is already set to 2.4Ghz only+WPA2 security.
"Beamforming" and "Fast Roaming" have been disabled.
The smart plugs can connect to the T-Mobile SSID on the FX4100 modem router within seconds.

Once sent, a ticket will be created in our support system, and a member of the team will follow up to gather more information or troubleshoot the cause.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.
