Please provide a firmware update to enable RTSP and ONVIF support for the Tapo C615F, as well as other battery-powered Tapo cameras.

According to Tapo’s explanation, these protocols are currently disabled due to concerns about higher power consumption, which could impact battery life and overall product performance.

I would like to better understand the technical mechanism behind how the Tapo C615F uploads video footage to Tapo Care Cloud Storage.

Specifically, I would appreciate clarification on the following points:

  • How does the C615F transmit video footage to Tapo Care Cloud Storage without requiring continuous streaming or a constantly active connection?

  • Does uploading footage to Tapo Care Cloud consume less power than transmitting the same footage to a user-owned NAS or local server?

  • If the camera is able to upload video clips to Tapo Care Cloud, does this transmission still require the camera to wake up, encode video, and use Wi-Fi in the same way as other network uploads?

  • Is the difference between cloud upload and local/NAS upload primarily due to the use of proprietary protocols, rather than standard protocols such as RTSP or ONVIF?

From a technical perspective, uploading video data should require similar power consumption regardless of whether the destination is Tapo Care Cloud or a private cloud/NAS.

I would like to understand whether this limitation is related to power management, protocol design, or product policy.

I look forward to a detailed technical explanation.

@Solla-topee , I too would like the option to choose whether or not i use ONVIF for this camera. The argument is it will use more battery... okay.. im ok with that. I want to be able to view the camera in a different app so i dont have to switch between multiple different apps.. Reolink, TP Link, SmartLife, its annoying if you dont have all the same brand cameras and then when you do try to buy the same brand that worked before.. the new one you get doesnt support ONVIF and you're left with another camera thats a waste of money...
