Questions about H500 hub
I'm preparing to replace my Ring system with a Tapo system, and am trying to correlate which cameras and hubs work together...
I've pretty much settled on the H500 hub, but am unclear on a couple of issues:
1. How do I get videos from the hub to my local desktop computer?? Does the internal drive on the H500 map to a network drive in some manner?
2. I'm looking at the Tapo MagCam 4K Solar, but it is not included on the H500 compatibility list;
I'm looking at the compatibility list in the FAQ section, but it doesn't provide me with any way of filtering on the cameras that I am interested in...
At a minimum, I will want solar backup of battery, and ideally 4K resolution...
3. Is there any way to order separate chimes for the system??
With our existing Ring setup, we have two chimes, one for where my wife sits in the living room, and the second for where I sit in the computer room...
Is there some way for us to purchase a separate chime?? This seems to be a commonly-asked question that never gets answered...
Thank y'all for any advice that ye can provide...

Hi,
Please see the following information regarding your questions.
1. If you have a USB storage device connected to the H500, you can back up the video recordings stored on the hub's built-in storage or inserted hard disk (HDD/SSD) to the USB storage device, then access the USB storage device in the local network device via various network protocols, such as FTP and Samba. The local desktop computer can't directly access the video recordings stored on the hub's built-in storage or inserted hard disk (HDD/SSD).
2. You can refer to the below FAQ to see which camera is compatible with H500. And you can refer to this link to filter the cameras you are interested in.

3. We don't sell chimes separately. However, you can use the Tapo hub as a chime, such as H100 or H200. You can ring the hub via the Smart Action > Automation feature. For example, when the camera detects motion, then rings the hub.

So, if I get one of the Tapo door cameras that include a chime, will I be able to configure the chime to work with any installed camera??

Hi,
Please note that the chime that comes with the doorbell camera is different from the Tapo hub. The chime works only with Tapo doorbell cameras. However, the Tapo hub can be ringed by all Tapo cameras via the Automation feature.

The H500 was a huge letdown for me. I prefer the Eufy ecosystem but got the H500, a C246D, C236 and 4x C113s because Tapo works much better with Alexa (in terms of person detection routines).
Once the camera (any camera) is connected to the H500, things seem to go downhill. For me, the C246D and C236 connection quality plummeted. I have my H500 on Ethernet and have a pretty robust router setup so the issue is definitely not with my wifi. Even with the C246D being within 5 feet of the H500 (but outside vs. inside the home), the connection was terrible. Their engineers couldn't solve the issue, to this day. I had to bring both cameras into the home to use them in any satisfactory fashion. Ymmv since you're getting a dual band camera. Make sure you fully test once you buy the system. Once the cameras work on their own (ie: no H500 connection), they seem to do better. I think the firmware just isn't mature yet.
1. There's no direct method, you can backup to a USB attached drive. I've never tried it to see what format it uses, etc.
2. Even with a list, be careful. The only way is to test. When I purchased the my system and cameras, the C246D was on the list but it was not compatible. It gained compatibility within about 2 weeks BUT I don't think the software is fully there, thus my issues.
3. Can't help on this one, as I don't utilized chimes, etc. I use Echo devices for that sort of thing.
Good Luck!
