Smart Switches Disconnecting
I've had TP-Link smart switches and plugs for the last 5 years and never had an issue. I recently updated the firmware on my router (Asus GT-AX11000) and updated my iPhone's IOS to 15 and nothing but problems. Switches and plugs w/ Hardware V1 connect and disconnect constantly throughout the day. I've done factory reset on all switches and even on my router and still same issue. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I'm having a similar issue with an ASUS RT-AC3200 with firmware 3.0.0.4.382.51940. All my HS200 and HS220 switches were working fine until yesterday. I restarted my wifi to fix another problem and all of a sudden several of my switches and one or two of my dimmers won't connect to wifi. Some of them still work fine though...very weird. I've tried forcing the control channel = 1 and setting the 2.4GHz band to 20 as other threads have suggested, I've reset the switches multiple times...nothing is working. It seems that it is the older HS200's that I installed maybe a year ago are not connecting, but three newer HS200's that I bought recently and installed recently are still connected.
My AC3200 has been a great performer for years. It would be unfortunate if the solution was a new/different (and expensive) wifi device.

Hello everyone,
For anyone experience similar kasa unstable / Local only issue with Asus router, please help provide information and email to <support.forum@tp-link.com> with title [forum ID520146 ] + Model + Description, and we will have a specialist to follow up your case:
- Model of router
Router Firmware:
Is it a Mesh system e.g. router + extenders?
- Does the issue start since any router firmware update
- Model & hardware version of kasa device .e.g HS105 US V2 MAC XXX
- Mac address of the problematic kasa devices (please share MAC in email or sent by private message)
- Is there any Red/ Green/Flashing Green WiFi led on plug when issue happens?
- How often does kasa become local only or not respond
- How did you make kasa work again at that moment, like reboot kasa/ reboot router/ factory reset kasa and set up kasa on the app?
- For Asus , try to check Router Log when issue occurs and the router log if possible
Thank you

Hello @dwsmarthome
may I know do you have one HS220 failed to connect to the router now?
- you could try to set up HS200 with a Hotspot Wi-Fi (2.4Ghz) and update device firmware. Then factory reset smart device and set it up with router again.
- Verify you put in correct 2.4Ghz WiFi password
By the way, may I know at which step the set-up failed when try to reinstall the switch? What is the error on Kasa app at that time? How about the WiFi Led status on switch after setup, is it flashing green/ Red etc.

@Solla-topee Hi, thanks for the response. I have new information.
1) I found updated firmware for my ac3200 and installed that. With the new firmware I was able to get many of the switches connected.
2) I ran into problems with the last couple switches/dimmers. I also noticed my phone was having trouble hooking up to the same SSID, which was odd. That prompted me to do some more research on my router and I uncovered in forums that my router (and likely many others based on the same chipset) has a limit of 32 wifi devices connected! This was unexpected, because based on the IP address range there should be 250+ possible IP addresses. Then everything began to make sense. I've recently added more smart devices, and my wifi device count was at 32. So I disconnected three smart switches that I rarely use, and then I was able to reconnect all my dimmers and switches that I have meaningful automations on.
Long term, I'll probably need to move to a mesh wifi system that can connect more devices on wifi.

Hello @dwsmarthome
Glad to hear that you figured out that was caused by the router limit of maximum 32 Wi-Fi clients. Learned something new today!

In case if people are having similar issue with Asus router, here's my own thread with information and also testing new asus firmware

I just want to add that I'm having a similar issue with my Asus RT-AX58U router.
Since the 386 firmware update I have about 10 switch mostly HS200, HS105 that keep loosing wifi after a few minutes..
I see the switch green led flashing, sometime every 20 minute or sometime it last 5 minute it is very random.
I noticed that some HS200 doesn't do that (they stay connected up to 2-3 days without issue) I'm assuming different firmware or version.
I even did a reset on my router and tried the Merlin Firmware and it didn't help.
My next option is to tweak the 2.4GHz settings but it was working fine before :(
I will also try changing my router but If Asus did fix some Vulnerabilitie it should be TP-link that release an update for their smart switch.
I'm willing to try a beta firmware if possible.
I can provide more information if necessary.
I have a few other smart switch (Not tp-link) and I have no issue.
Thank you
