Hello @DrDean

If router supports address reservation, you could reserve an IP address on router for the Mac address of camera.

Camera MAC could be found in Kasa app-> Camera settings.

@Solla-topee

My router does that.  However, all my non TP-Link devices allow me to set a static IP address in the device and remove it from the dhcp pool in the router.  I consider the kc200 a flawed device design.  I have had repeated problems where the KC 200 starts responding to dhcp requests after a while and brings down my entire network.  I guess the only fix is to factory reset and reinstall?  How can I ensure this does not happen?  This is very troublesome with an outdoor camera.

@DrDean

Sorry I overlooked your case, may I know does camera connect to Router directly or through extender, some extender may hide the device behind it so you could not see it in router Client list.  If camera has unstable issue,  please try some basic troubleshooting suggestion here: its important to check Camera signal strength and ensure it receives goos signal as Case 1:

What should I do if I cannot control my Kasa device?

For ' KC 200 starts responding to dhcp requests after a while and brings down my entire network' can you explain for this.  May I know how often this happens, do you mean router lose Interest or camera lose internet at that time, how about the Led on camera, is it Red/ Flash green, may I know the model router of router or extender? Thank you

@DrDean

The camera has a good wifi signal.  It makes DHCP offers all the time.  I had to remove, factory reset and reinstall to make it stop.  Since it was installed for a year and then started making DHCP offers, I am very concerned that it will repeat this failure.  I see that this problem has been reported frequently since 2019.  What is Kasa doing to remedy it?

Hello @DrDean This is very rare. From your description Router DHCP shuts off and camera is doing DHCP offers to the devices under local network ..As this is very unusual I would like to create support email so our specialist could help investigate further, please check your inbox and feel free to let us know how it goes,  thank you.
