5G speed dropped and cannot manually select 5G band
Monday
Model: NX510v
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 3.0.0 v6060.0 Build 230714 Rel. 56669n

Recently, the speed of the 5G internet provided by the router dropped considerably (~15 mbps). Right next to it, a 5G phone (Samsung S24) has the proper 5G speed (~200 mbps), on the same carrier, so there is 5G signal in the area.

The router is still connected to 5G, or so it says on the front page:

If I select 5G connection only, it loses internet connectivity completely, until I select 5G Preferred or 4G.

When I try to select a 5G band manually, it throws the below error:

Is it a firmware issue? It says that I'm up to date with 1.1.0, but I read online that there is a 1.2.0 version. The device is not vendor-locked, I did not buy it through an ISP, but standalone. I use an Orange sim card and I'm based in Romania.

Any recommendations?

Re:5G speed dropped and cannot manually select 5G band
Wednesday

  @Shumi

Hi, It seems like the Orange  5G mobile service uses 5G NSA network. The "5G mode" on the admin UI for NX510v is for 5G SA network only. The manual 5G band selection is also limited to 5G SA network.(Do Archer/Deco 5G routers support 5G SA and NSA?)

 For the 5G speed, when it dropped to 15mbps, after a manual restart, will it restore ~200mbps?

May I know how long you have had the NX510v?

If you log into the web admin UI of NX510v, what are the network bands here? is it only B7 when the network speed was back to 200mbps?

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @David-TP Hi David,

Q: For the 5G speed, when it dropped to 15mbps, after a manual restart, will it restore ~200mbps?

A: Unfortunately not.

Q: May I know how long you have had the NX510v?

A: Almost one year. The issues started occurring a few weeks ago.

Q: If you log into the web admin UI of NX510v, what are the network bands here? is it only B7 when the network speed was back to 200mbps?

A: Right now, it's B28. I do not know which band was back when the speed was high, did not really have a reason to check.

I also reached out to TP-Link Support Romania, they have provided be with the 1.2.0 version of the firmware, will try and install it to see if it solves anything.

But please let me know if there are any other suggestions. Literally nothing has changed from my end (location of router, SIM card, SIM plan, etc.) between now and when everything was working properly.

Cheers!
