Hello everyone,

since a couple of days our Tapo C200 doesn't want to connect to the WiFi anymore. Here is what's happening:

I reset the camera

I wait until it finished its movement

Then I go into the Tapo-App and add it

I then connect to its WiFi

I then enter my WiFi password

Then it takes a while and switches from "Connecting to WiFi" to "Pairing your device"

It always blink red/green

After a minute it says it failed to connect to my WiFi.

We use a Fritzbox 6670 Cable and everything worked fine until Sunday or so.

What we tried to solve the issue:

We did a factory reset on the router.

We reset the camera.

Tried it tons of times. Also removed SD Card.

Didn't help. We used the option to have 2,4GHz and 5,0GHz networks with seperate SSIDs and connected the camera specifically to the 2,4GHz network. We made sure our router supports WPA2 and WPA3 (both are activated).

Nothing helped.

Not sure what else I could try and hope someone can help us with this issue :)

  @Trudel

Hi,
You can try the following steps and check if they help in your case.

  1. Set the router's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi security type to WPA2-PSK only.
  2. Ensure the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi is working. You can use your phone to connect and test.
  3. Make sure your router does not have special settings that may block the camera from connecting to the Wi-Fi, such as MAC Filtering, Parental Control, Access Control, Firewall settings, etc.
  4. You can enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, factory reset the camera, configure it with another phone, connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi, and then check if you can set it up.

Best Regards

@Solla-topee Hello, thanks for the answer! I tried all of that stuff. In the end I could fix the issue by accident I guess. Because I changed the WiFi password to a very simple one, because I thought maybe some special characters are causing issues. Didn't help so I changed it back to the old one and did a router reset. After that it suddendly worked just fine.

So I have no clue what the issue was. Seems likely the router had some weird issues and changing the password followed by a reset (not a factory reset) was the solution (I reset it like a million times in the last couple of days so I don't know it's just weird, haha).

Thanks :)
