Model: RE580D
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20171220 Rel. 57215

After hours of testing i can not connect to any 5ghz Network.

Status always says 5ghz: "No Signal"

I tried switching channels 36, 40, 100

I tried disabling security
The 5ghz Led only lights up on reboot and never lights up again whatever i do.

I can find the 5ghz Network with Wireless Scanner from RE580D Andmin interface at full Signal.

2.4ghz is working as expected.

Extend Network is disabled for 2.4 and 5ghz.

5ghz is not working even if i disable 2.4 connection.

RE580D has the lates firmware.

VR900v has the lates firmware.

Fritzbox has the lates firmware.

Distance to Router approx 5m.

Not connecting to Fritzbox 7460 and TP-LINK VR900v on 5ghz.

All other devices iphone, ipad, Macbook, Alexa, Samsung Tv can connect to the 5ghz Network.

VR900v setup.

  • SSID: ALICE
  • Security: WPA / WPA2 Personal
  • Version: WPA2-PSK ( AES )
  • Password: xxx
  • Mode: 802.11a/n/ac mixed
  • Channel: Automatic
  • Channelwidth: Auto
  • TX: High

RE580D setup:

  • SSID: ALICE

@SteenArnecke @Kahzul sorry about the delay.

Hello everyone,

As this thread is a bit old, we suggest starting a new thread with case here and we could try to help look into the concern further.

  • Beta Note: Fixed  RE580D Failed to connect TP-Link Archer VR900v

RE580D V1  Beta Firmware Download
https://static.tp-link.com/2019/201912/20191213/re580d-up-ver1-0-0-P1[20180720-rel34021].zip

Note:1. please review Terms and Conditions for TP-Link Beta Firmware before try this beta firmware:
2. please identify device hardware version on device label before update the beta, beta is for RE580D V1 only

For RE not detect or failed to connect to 5Ghz Wi-Fi, kindly try some suggestions here:

  • Case1: If RE did not detect router 5Ghz WiFi, refer to the thread below and change router channel to 36/40/44/48

[Troubleshooting] TP-Link Range Extender is not detecting the 5GHz Signal of the Main Router

If above doesn't work,  please start a new thread, with 1) model of router/ AP  2)  a photo of Router 5Ghz wireless settings 3) When RE scan for 5G, could RE detect nearby or neighbors 5Ghz signal?

  • Case 2: If RE was able to detect router's 5Ghz signal, but 5Ghz Led did not light up on RE:

Please refer to this thread for more troubleshooting tips :
Has connected to TP-Link extender but no internet, what can I do?

  •  Verify your Wi-Fi password by forgetting your 5Ghz Wi-Fi network on cell phone first :

Go to Settings-> Wi-Fi on your phone, Tap (or Long press  the router's Wi-Fi name  ->Forget / Delete the network
Please reconnect to your router Wi-Fi, it will ask for a password, will it accept your router password?

If above doesn't work,  please start a new thread, with 1) model for router/ AP  2)  a photo of Router 5Ghz wireless settings 3) what Led status on RE, and  error after RE set up process
