I can not make my Wi-Fi connection exceed 54 mbps, I have an archer ac1200 t4e adapter, when at the same time on my cell phone I have a speed of 864 mbps on the same Wi-Fi network I do not understand what prevents the connection of my computer can not match or at least exceed 54 mbps. I think the driver drivers have not been installed correctly. If someone can tell me that modifying would be helpful. Cheers

Hi, I'm going through the same issue as described in this thread and can't find a solution...

Edit: I'm running Win10 x64, tried many different drivers to no avail. My router allows for 802.11ac, as I get 250 mbps download speed on my smartphone, but using T4E pci-e card I only get up to 54mbps wifi connection on 5Ghz network (with measured download speed less than 30 mbps), while I get 400 mbps wifi speed on 2.4Ghz (though measured download speeds won't exceed 75 mbps...). All other devices work just fine, so it's definitely something to do with the Archer T4E and I'd like a solution.

Edit2: Managed to "fix" it.... My router encryption was set to AES/TKIP, and for some bizarre reason, the T4E seemed to be limited to TKIP and thus limited to 54mbps... I've set my router encryption to AES only and now it connects using 802.11ac and the wifi speed is now set to 400mbps, which is enough for my internet. So if anyone else is coming here looking for a solution, change your router encryption to AES only.

@adete
Hi all,

I manage to solve the issue. After installing the driver I went to the Network Connections (Win 10) -> double click on my Wi-Fi network -> Wireless Properties -> Security tab.

  1. Set Security type to WPA2-Personal
  2. Set Encryption type to AES

After saving (Click Ok) my Wi-Fi properties looks like:

...
Protocol:    Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac)
Security type:    WPA2-Personal
Network band:    5 GHz
Network channel:    36

Link speed (Receive/Transmit):    866/866 (Mbps)
...
Manufacturer:    TP-Link Technologies Co., Ltd.
Description:    TP-Link Wireless PCI Express Adapter
Driver version:    2024.0.2.101
...

Thank you all for replays and support!

Cheers!

I have the same problem, my cellphone at the same spot gets ~327 Mpps. I get maximum 90 Mbps with this adapter.
Installed the latest driver and speeds remain the same.

@adete

I have the same problem on Archer T6e

Technically a Dual Band AC adapter but it doesn't work properly on Windows 10. It just doesn't catch ac internet. I have not been able to find a fix for it. Looks like tp-link messed up the drivers and are too lazy to fix it.

@adete

Hi, do you connect to the 2.4G wifi or the 5G wifi? 54Mbs is the negotiate speed between the router and the adapter, please try to change the 2.4G wifi channel to 1,6 or 11, channel width to 40MHz, change the 5G channel to 36,44 or 48, channel width to 80Mhz, then test the speed again.

What's the operating system of your computer? How did you install the driver before?

Please try to use the adapter on another slot or computer to do the comparison.

Good day.

I stumbled upon this thread as I was researching an explanation as to why my archer ac1200 t4e is producing such subpar results when connecting to the wifi as opposed to my phone for example. My computer with the archer ac1200 t4e installed usually gets around 20-30 mbps down and 15 mpbs up. My wifi speeds on my phone reflect what it is supposed to be and what my provider says I am supposed to have, that being 200 mbps down and 15 mbps up.

I would appreciate some help with my problem as I have been dealing with it for a couple of months and I honestly cannot for the life of my figure out what the problem is.

@ryangp

Sorry to hear that this adapter gives you slow speed, may I know which driver are you on now? Please kindly verify what is the driver version and system version of the Windows 10 as this: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2722/.

What is the model number of the wireless router? How about the wireless link speed on the computer, you can check it as this: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2265/.

Here is the latest public driver we can recommend that may help with the issue, if your driver is not this one, give it a go:
https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202006/20200601/00015960-RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.38.0712.2019_Drv_3.00.0032.L.zip

You need to uninstall all the other drivers for this adapter, then install it manually: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/920/.
