21-12-16 update driver

Hello everyone,

For unstable issue,  you could try some suggestions here

1. please try this chipset driver for T3U/ T3U plus:

Realtek Chipset Driver for Archer T2U(Nano/ Pus)/T3U(Nano/ Plus)/T4U(Plus)/T4UH/ T9UH (Win7/Win10)

* Win10 driver also works on Win11

2. Try to select a better Wi-Fi channel on router . You could download Wi-Fi analyzer app  and select a relatively clean 2.4Ghz/5Ghz channel.

If still the same issue, please help provide some information here:

1. What is the error message when the WiFi connection drops out? Is the issue with 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz band? How often the issue happen?
2. How do you recover the internet connection,like recover itself/reconnect Wi-Fi/reboot the computer, or disable/enable the adapter?
3. Please check the motherboard of your computer and share a photo with us: https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2722/

4. Model of router

Note: if the concern is adapter high go to this thread: [Troubleshooting] How to Fix High Ping when Using Wireless Adapter?

Thank you.

@Kathy_Z

I bought the device a mounth ago. Issue started on first day.

Both the 2.4 and 5 ghz drop connection.

I don't know model of router, but I replaced it (got new from my ISP) last week and nothing changed.

Driver is up to date.

Hi, The file that you are recommending to install with these new drivers are from 2018 (when the current drivers are 2019 1030.29.618.2019) , is that correct and are these the recommended ones for t3u plus? How do we install them? there are just folders with drivers without instructtions or installer. Thanks

I have the exact same adapter with the exact same problem. I have two of them on two different machines. Both just disconnect, sometimes the USB device actually crashes. Where did you get the 2019 driver from? I have the 2018 driver for the T3U.

@Gibbo3771

Hi, here is the latest public driver for the Windows 10:

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202006/20200601/00015960-RTLWlanU_WindowsDriver_1030.38.0712.2019_Drv_3.00.0032.L.zip

Refer to the link to install it manually, please remove all the other drivers that you have installed on the computer for the adapter:

@Kevin_Z

Nope. It's worse now.

If I saturate the connection, my signal drops to 0 bars, the device then disconnects and crashes. I then have to unplug and plug it back in to get it to connect. Packet loss with a ping is in the 70% and round trip time to 8.8.8.8 or bbc.co.uk goes from 15ms to triple digits back and forth.

What is actually wrong with this device? I don't understand why the drivers on the products documentation page do not work, and why I am having to install drivers from your archive CDN manually to get a consumer device with a very common chipset to work on the most common Windows version.

The Windows plug and play adapter works better than every driver from TP-Link so far (some I have tried from this forum, linked by you, are open source or straight up recompiled realtek drivers). The problem with the Windows driver is that it crashes sometimes under load, and has terrible connectivity issues. At least it can stay connected.

I'm just going to get my money back and buy from a different brand, or save my money and just run a 30m cable to my PC.

Sorry to hear that. If the return window of this is open, you can just contact the reseller to return it. While if it is not, you can also contact the local tech support to check if they can help with a replacement:

@williamsf I've experienced the same issue and I think the problem is with USB 3.0.  The adapter seems much more stable with a USB 2.0 port.  USB 2.0 is limited to 480Mbps, but that's still better than most broadband speeds.

I thought there were many initial problems with USB3 ports being inadequately shielded on PCs and wireless routers causing a lot of instability.  Maybe this is related to those issues?

This is also a problem. I have updated the router Archer c6V2 firmware, the usb wifi adapter has also been updated and it does. :

The old TL-wn722n - and it produces much better results ...:
