Quick help on hardware setup with Deco and Modem+Router combo.
Hi All
Admittedly our heads were spinning as we tried to naviate the technical nuacnes of using a Deco mesh system in our household (we're network newbies). We finally decided to go with M9 plus instead of x60 (newer isn't always better right)?
Right now our Spectrum internet isn't covering the house well (for example the Master bedroom with a back office area has horrible wi-fi connectivity and the main router is about 60 feet away (also located upstairs).
Here are the requirements we're working with (based on research looks like the M9 is the way to go for what will be primarily a wi-fi mesh)
1) 3600 sq foot house (2 story + Patio + Garage coverage)
2) ~25 connected devices for now
3) Four gaming systems going on (a lot of times simultneously)
4) At least 4 PCs/Laptops on at the same time for work and school
5) Streaming Big screens
Here is where we need quick help:
Right now our wifi is seup like this: Spectrum Modem > Linksys WRT Router > most of the devices connected via Wifi
With the Deco M9...do we get rid of the Linksys Router? I don't think we'll use the M9 in AP mode since we want the Deco features. If so, would the setup be Spectrum Modem > Deco M9 > M9 Satelites > connected devices via Wi-fi?
Unfortunately the Deco devices will be too far spaced out to connect via Ethernet.
We are thinking of using (2) M9 devices upstairs (especially for the master bedroom back office) and one downstairs.
Thanks much!
