It sounds that the official statement sent to me via email by tp-link about a year ago (M5 was still on 1.5.7) that the VPN server feature will be implemented with 1.7 firmware line is not true. Having flash memory limitation is a no go for the feature since it is not something software related.
This is very disappointing since I've bought the devices based on this official assurance...

Hi, This version hasn't been fully released. Currently only part of the users would get the APP firmware push message. I think the MAC address of your Deco M5 v3 is randomly chosen as the candidate, and the Deco M5 v1 might still need to wait for the next batch。
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

Hi, For Deco M9 Plus, since 1.6.0 was just released several weeks ago, I think 1.7.0 might need a while. Currently, I haven't got any news about the beta firmware.
Best regards.

Hi, for the IOT network, you could have a look at this link: What is an IoT Network?
And there is a recent discussion about IOT network:https://community.tp-link.com/us/home/forum/topic/609984
You are right about the WAN/LAN auto-sensing optimization.
@Parushev Actually, I also thought it would be 1.7.0. Please wait for a moment and let me check if there is any further news.
update: the current 1.7.0 of Deco M5 hasn't added VPN features due to the limitation of flash memory. The engineers would re-evaluate the possibilities of this feature later.
The US version will be released later, @CenterInYou Normally the local office updates the firmware every Friday and you could wait for the update on the local website.
Thank you very much.
Best regards.

@TP-Link Could you explain more about:
1. Optimized loT control experience.
4. Optimized the WAN-LAN auto-sensing function.
What are "loT" and "WAN-LAN auto-sensing"?
First time I read these terms...
For "WAN-LAN auto-sensing" I supose it is the automatic detection of which ethernet port is the WAN?
EDIT: nice to see there are also other new features which are not part of the changelog, for example devices to be isolated from the network.
