 Luckily I had guarantee still on and got new decos. They have firmware 1.5.3 and works like charm. I will stick on that firmware. Need to wait until stability problems have been solved.

Of course can be, that it was hardware issue but I have my doubts about that.

I cannot play around with bad firmwares, I need stable wifi.

Hi, Here is the latest beta firmware for Deco M5:

Deco M5_1.6.0_build20220816

Bug fixes:

1. Fixed the insight/time limit issue under Parental control.
2. Fixed the DDNS Issue under PPPoE connection type.

Modifications/Improvements:
1. Optimized the DHCP function.
2. Optimized the Monthly Reports function.
3. Optimized the Clients List function.
4. Improved system reliability.

Best regards.

Used this beta firmware with my M5. There was 3 days working without problem, then:

1. Deco mobile app stopped showing some devices but main deco was showing internet usage from them ( my laptop was grey in Deco mobile app but was connected to the wifi and downloading )

2. Lost access to 192.168.68.1 ( login screen was available but stuck requesting password)  After reboot everything came to normal operation.

The above problems was showed first on 1.6.0  firmware. Previous firmware didn't have this kind of problems.

My setup has one M5 as main Router, one M5 as satellite and one M4 as satellite. Both satellites are connected to Main M5 Router.

  @TP-Link I'm also facing some issues with 1.6.0 firmware.

 I have 3 decos on ethernet backhaul.

Configured a restart every night and still get, at least once a day, every deco going to red light and taking 5 to 10 minutes for a recovery.
At least I don't have to reset them, but its pretty annoying specially because I work from home and have meetings the whole day.

Could you share any timeline for a new firmware version?

@David-TP Solid as a rock as long as they don’t reboot with scheduled reboot. Any thoughts. Always needs optimisation after scheduled r reboot and performance often poor.

Posted this elsewhere in the forums before I found this space (sorry did not mean to spam).

I recently updated the firmware on my Deco M5 using the Deco app on my iphone. Everything went smoothly and the firmware is now the latest version Firmware 1.6.0 Build 20220525.

However, since the installation of the firmware there has been a serious issue with the speed on my network which has dropped from 800Mbos (wired) and 300+ Mbps (wireless) to around 25 Mbps (regardless of wired or wireless connection). I know there will be a lot of questions as to what I have tested so let me set out some of the details.

General background

  1. On the Deco App, my internet connection with my ISP is around 800+ Mbps up and down
  2. I have a total of 6 M5s on my network
  3. All my Deco M5 have wired backhaul connections to my switch
  4. I have tried both wired and wireless connections and they are all around 25 Mbps (wired used to be 800Mbps and wireless 300Mbps)
  5. I have done multiple reboots of my system from the fiber modem, main Deco M5 router, switch and the remote Deco M5 mesh points
  6. I have done multiple sequences in restarting my network
  7. I have unplugged different Deco M5s from my network until only the main Deco was connected. Same problem persists

In addition to the above I have done a number of other tests and made the following observation

  1. Physically disconnecting all Deco M5 mesh devices and only have the main Deco M5 connected to my fibre modem powered up
  2. When the Deco M5 is rebooted and only the ethernet cable from the fibre modem is connected, I am able to obtain speeds over 300Mbps (standing next to the device)
  3. When an additional ethernet cable is added to the 2nd ethernet port, it immediately drops from 300Mbps to around 25Mbps
  4. This happens regardless of whether the 2nd ethernet cable is connected to my switch or directly to a 2nd Deco M5
  5. I have tried multiple cables and it is the same
  6. I have swap ports (revering the in and out connection) and it is the same
  7. I have factory reset one of my mesh devices and used it as a new Main Deco and the problem persists
  8. To be fair I have not seen whether the devices work in wireless mesh mode because this would not work for my set up as I require wired back haul to get signal around my place which has thick concrete walls

Conclusion

  • While the Deco M5s have been very reliable, for some reason, I believe the firmware has impacted the ability of the Main Deco M5 to operate with 2 ethernet cables connected to it and when there are 2 ethernet cables connected to it the signal pass through drops tremendously (over 10 times)

PLEASE HELP !!!

  • Would greatly appreciate any suggestions or support in resolving this. It is quite irritating, and it is affecting my ability to do conference calls from home as well as leading to many complaints from my family.

Thanks in advance

Bob

  @PowerButton

i am not sure what happened, but all my devices are now working properly.

I did not even do a reboot, but when I checked them today (24hrs after I did all my troubleshooting) they all seemed to work fine.

I am not complaining, but neither can I explain the improvement. It clearly is not my ISP as the Deco speed tests are the same.

Still a mystery.

  @David-TP

Since I updated to version 1.6, I am also getting at least 1 device per day that can't connect to the internet. These are devices that were previously connected, but can't reconnect. This is happening for wired and wireless connections and a reboot is the only action that seems to fix it (temporarily). I have 3 Deco M5s. Is there a solution to this specific problem?

  @TP-Link

I am now facing the same issue that others here are.

I have some devices which are not able to connect to the WiFi even though they were previously connected.

So far have experienced problems with the following:-

- Iphone(s)

- Samsung TV

- Macbook Air M1

For some of the devices, when you forget the network and try to connect later it does work. Others have not been able to connect for hours (over 24 hours).

Not sure what the issue is but it is quite inconvenient. I am looking to set up a guest network to see if that solves it in the short term, but should not have to look at such work around. Never had these issues prior to the firmware upgrade.

  @PowerButton Daniel-TX

Thanks for the feedback.

I hope you could help me test the latest beta firmware here:

Deco M5_1.6.0_build20220816

(It could be reverted back to 1.6.0 official version directly if needed.)

If the disconnection just started after firmware upgrade, so far, the reported DHCP bugs might be one of the possible reasons.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.
