The Google TV connects to the preferred deco. This is fine. But from the DECO app it only shows the linked deco and does not show what frequency it connected to (2.4 or 5G).

Hi, as for the network optimization feature. It is suggested to have a look at this link:

And it would keep being optimized along with firmware upgrades.

[Solution] Network aways congested according to the Network Optimization on the Deco app

For the connection preference issue, Did you mean even though you manually select the linked Deco for Google TV, Google TV still connects to another unit.

Or the linked Deco is blank and does not show any linked Deco or connection type?

@TP-Link I had an issue with a mobile Samsung A32 4G (SM-A325M) that refused to connect to the 5Ghz band regardless the Deco unit was located 2 meters away. My others 30 devices were working great connecting to the nearest Deco unit using the 2.4 or 5Ghz band (depending their wifi capabilities) but the Samsung A32. It was important to me because I use this mobile for job related voice/video calls and need a fast and reliable wifi signal.

So I decided to upgrade my 3 Deco M5 units to firmware 1.6.0 (from 1.5.3) and so far everything's working great even with the Samsung mobile that's connecting to the nearest Deco.

Thanks for this firmware release.

Very nice features added to version 1.6.0! (2 decos M5 v3). At the moment I detected only one small problem: I have a Google TV dongle that in the DECO software does not indicate which network it is connected to even though the deco and the network are forced. I attach a screenshot.
And one request: when I use the new "scheduled reboot" feature, it does not "optimize the network" automatically. In other words, every time the decos are rebooted, the network has to be optimized manually. Question: Is there a way to program it in the DECO software so that it is done automatically after a scheduled reboot?

Hi, I am afraid you might need to tell more details about your current issue since there is no quote or any reference, I am not sure which similar issue that you referred to.

the latest one about the LAN IP auto-change?

Any news about the official firmware? Are we getting it before the end of the year?

What about other Deco models such as M9 Plus? Please update us whenever you have new details.

Yeah I am experiencing the same issues on 3 of my 5 Deco M5 units. After the firmware update, I rebooted all of the units and also rebooted my cable modem just in case. However, neither of those helped the issue.

Now it works like a charm based on your suggestion.

I never take a look at DNS setting under DHCP, because it always works with the previous firmware & setting.

Thank you.

Hi, I am afraid it is not due to the new firmware.

Deco does not allow WAN DNS on the same IP range of LAN IP address, which will cause IP conflict, and Deco will reboot and change the LAN IP address.

I am not sure why it did not happen on the previous firmware.

But if you want to use the adguard DNS, it is suggested to change under Deco APP>More>Advanced>DHCP, such as:

How to use Pi-Hole DNS Server on TP-Link routers?

@TP-Link

Custom DNS not working,

I tried to change it into my private dns (adguard on Raspi) 10.0.0.88 and deco will automaticaly hang, auto reboot, and change my deco IP 10.0.0.1 into 192.168.x.x.

So the DNS has to be "obtain DNS Automatically: on"

I don't have this problem with previous firmware.

So I can't use adguard dns at this moment.
