Will this beta version work with an M5(1.0)? I'm currently using 1.6.0 Build 20220525 Rel. 48298

Hi, yes, it works with V1 too.

  @TP-Link  Just chiming in that I am also having issues with 1.6 (both official 1.6.0 Build 220525 and 20220816 beta).

I have 3 M5's in AP mode using Ethernet back haul, smart dhcp disabled, (tried toggling "Mesh technology" but that did not help).

For example Teams calls are dropping on a new Dell laptop, Samsung Tablets struggling to keep connection.

Just weird  behavior in general, while on 1.5 the Deco's always seemed to be rock solid.

Is there a way to force a downgrade to 1.5 to rule out the 1.6 FW?

[Update] I performed a factory reset of the Deco's, let's see what happens.

  @TP-Link

I have been thinking of what I can do too. I have 7 M5 devices with ethernet backhaul.

Ccertain devices just cannot connect, or lose connection midway (Samsung TV, apple iPhone and I suspect my Ring doorbell etc) it is so unstable I am thikning of throwing away the entire system as it is infuriating. Not being able to downgrade the firmware is rediculouse.

I have been tempted to go out and buy another deco which has not been upgraded and see if swapping my main deco with an non-upggraded deco would improve the situation.

The only thing which is stopping me changing all the devices are

1 - I have spent a bunch on 7 decos (and I cannot sell them off in good faith knowing they have problem)

2 - It is going to cost me a bunch more to change them

3 - I actually like the echo system as it is easy to manage

4 - It used to be rock solid in terms of uptime and stability

PLEASE UPLOAD v1.5 firmware so we can download and flash the devices using the web interfact (I don't see why this is not possible). OR PLEASE RELEASE a more stable version.

  @PowerButton Jeehaa

Thank you very much for the feedback.

The 1.6.0 firmware could be downgraded back to 1.5.x via firmware recovery.

Gradually more and more models will get into 1.6.0 firmware and normally it is not suggested to downgrade back to 1.6.0.

@PowerButton have you tried the beta firmware here which has added fixes to most of the reported issues?

Deco M5_1.6.0_build20220816

 Jeehaa, as for the Microsoft teams, I am quite sure that it is not caused by the firmware upgrade and I used to see feedback on different models. But I am not sure why it just started after the firmware upgrade. I will check more details with you later via email and hope you do not mind.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

A user will not say: newer version makes my router useless, but because other models have it, let's update mine.

I agree it should be way easier to downgrade if a firmware has issues and a user does not care if a version is old: he wants to be able to go back to a version that worked for him.

Thanks for the feedback.

I hope you could help me test the latest beta firmware here:

Deco M5_1.6.0_build20220816

(It could be reverted back to 1.6.0 official version directly if needed.)

If the disconnection just started after firmware upgrade, so far, the reported DHCP bugs might be one of the possible reasons.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP  - since installing the beta version, I have not had any more connection issues.

  @TP-Link

I have "upgraded" to the beta firmware which appears to be a bit more stable.

No long have issues of devices not being able to connect to the wifi. Also the speeds seems to be back to normal.

I do hope it remains stable, and that the firmware is released to solve other user's problems.

  @TP-Link Hi All,

I hope you can help. I've 4 X M5 units (3 V1's and 1 v3) . They've been working flawlessly for a good while, but since the last firmware update I'm having serious issues with DHCP addresses being issued.

It happens most days when I get up and open my work laptop. It either won't connect at all, or will give an error that it couldn't be assigned a DHCP / IP Address. It happens on my Pixelbook and on my wifes new Macbook Pro. I've also got a few smart devices that won't connect. I had to reboot the whole network again today to get connected (devices that already online are fine, but it's ones looking for new IP addresses that are having issues).

Can you please advise if this is a known issue and if there's a fix for it.

There's loads of IP addresses left to be used so it's not that they've run out or anything.

Thanks.
