Official Wi-Fi Routers Support WireGuard VPN Now
VPNs have grown a great deal over the past few years, and as a result, we have seen an increase in demand for alternative VPN options on TP-Link routers. WireGuard VPN could be one of the most popular VPNs that we are seeing in the public community and forums. We are excited to announce here that we do have some router models that support or plan to support WireGuard VPN feature, and there will be more in the near future.

1. You will need to perform a firmware upgrade on your router when the official firmware is released.

Planned is also not recommended for your purchase reference if the requested feature is the main consideration. It's suggested to choose one that already supports the features you require when purchasing. The list above is subject to change and might not include all models and hardware versions. We will update it once there are new models or hardware available.
For other models that are not listed above, there is currently no definitive information if WireGuard VPN would be possible or be available in the future, and we don't have any specific details that I can share around. It's suggested to keep an eye on the official website or on the router web GUI/Tether app for any new updates.

@Sunshine It shouldn't be this hard for an advertised out-of-the-box feature to function. I created a separate ticket. However, the energy required to solve this is likely better spent on a product that actually does what I need without the fuss. I don't imagine I will recoup the money and time invested in this either. It's a bad situation. I'm bummed out.

That's why i consider an ASUS router over an WiFi 7 router from TP-link.
TP-Link's HW is outstanding, but the support is worthless.
The actual router is an AX11000, boought for about 350 euro in novermber 2020, and back than a top of the bill router.
No more FW updates ever since september 2023
My previous rouer was an AC3200. That unit never received any FW after i bought it.
I belief TP-link supports there routers for about 3 years, and than it's over.
For example:
AX11000: 3 FW updates, poor changelog
ASUS ROG AXE16000: 10FW updates, big changelog

AX11000. Last FW update on 2023-09-25 .
In more than 5 months, it is a year ago that TP-Link realeased a FW.

Regarding the ticket you mentioned, it has been escalated to senior engineer but it seems that we didn't receive your reply after senior engineer emailed you, if it is still the same issue, it is recommended to continue troubleshooting with our senior engineer.

TP-Link.
Please relase a FW with latest openvpn server/client version 2.6.10 (march 20, 2024)
and with wireguard server/client enabled for the AX11000.

The list of planned FW updates is deleted.
So no more FW updates for my AX11000 ever since september last year
It was a nice ride with the brand TP-link the last 3 years or so, but now it's time to migrate to an other brand.
