Tapo C212 IR Brightness
Tapo C212 IR Brightness
Hello!
I bought a Tapo C212 (2.0, FW 1.3.6) 2 days ago, I've been testing it, and then I found that the IR light of the Tapo C212 is dark... It's not reaching 10 meters as advertised, maybe it can but the Image Optimization Algorithm is not good. Please consider for improvement like the brightness and contrast while activating the Night Mode, I want it to be bright because the detection won't work if the brightness is not bright enough to detect person.
Thanks!

@NguyenKhoi Hi, I'm curious about your camera's Live View page in the Night mode, is it possible to share a picture of that page for a look? Thanks.

@Summer_S Sure!
You can see at the further right side, it's dark so it won't detect anything.
I measured the floor, it's 8 meters.

Hi,
When the camera is installed next to the wall, if the angle is too biased towards the wall, the infrared light reflected back from the wall may be too strong, and the wall will be overexposed. If the wall is overexposed, the camera will reduce the shutter exposure time to maintain the overall average brightness of the screen, so that the other part of the screen will be too dark. Without affecting the monitoring, you can try to adjust the angle of the camera, make the wall area in the picture as small as possible, and check if the monitoring image will be clearer.
Best Regards.

@Solla-topee Good day! There's no wall blocking the camera's IR Leds, the left wall is not too bright for the camera to slower the shutter speed... is there anything to solve it?

Hi,
You can adjust the angle of the camera to make the wall area in the picture as small as possible and check if the dark area will be brighter.
On our end, I'll log your suggestion and forward it to the related team to evaluate, and we will continuously improve our products and deliver the best performance possible.

@Solla-topee hi! I will send you the testing clip through the private messages after I tried my best to reduce the over-exposure.

Hi,
Thank you very much for the shared video clip.
Can you help collect the detection type you have enabled on the Tapo app(such as motion, person, etc.) and the sensitivity you have set? I'll forward them to the related team for further analysis and improve our product.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee at that time, I've enabled the Motion and Person detection, motion sensitivity is at Normal, and its activity zone covers all the image.
Thanks!

Hi,
You can try to set the motion sensitivity to High and check if it will help in this case.

@Solla-topee I already tested it, but it's still like the normal sensitivity but it alerts me when there's a bug flies past the camera... The issue is the IR vision, it is not bright enough. I'm looking for any applications for Tapo like the TP-Link VIGI where you can modify the brightness, contrast...
Thanks!
