Model: Deco X50
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.1 Build 20231122 Rel. 40485

Hi,

About a one or two week ago I updated the new firmware version 1.4.1 Build 20231122 Rel. 40485

I have set option to the Router to update every day at 6:00AM, I have this option already there from much before this new firmare.

And about 5 days ago it started that the connected Switch to the router lost connection to the internet, on all devices connected to this switch.

not able to ping to those IP locally to those devices. They lost access to the entire network.

The solution is to disconnect the Switch port on the Deco to the other one that is Empty, and there the switch gets back internet and IP , etc.

If I change back to the previous port still no IP assigned, no internet.

If I restart the Router, then I can change back to the previous port and its get IP, internet ,etc

Discarding that the port is not hardware broken.

I suspect that sometimes when the Router restart, the process of looking the WAN port (WAN/LAN auto-sensing) makes that the switch connected port somehow get disable in that process.

The wifi devices from the main Deco and the second Deco and ethernet devices on the second Deco, those all work fine.

I tried looking the Router logs, but can't get more than 20 minutes, unless there is a way that you can tell me how to get logs from 6 hours in the past.

Note: I already restart the Switch manually and devices to see if that was the error but no, its the main Deco Router the problem.

This is my topology:

ISP service---<cable#1>---modem---<cable#2>main Deco X50(Router Mode)--switch--(Devices#3)

--WIFI---second Deco X50(as Repeater)---Ethernet PC.

Deco X50 3 Ethernet ports:

1: Modem

2: Switch

3: Empty

Devices#3:
Apple TV
Raspberry Pi 4
Xbox Series

  @ezeb

For Main Deco to incorrectly auto-sense WAN/LAN port there usually must be device attached to LAN port capable of confusing Main Deco. Out of three you listed Raspberry Pi 4 is a suspect.

To see if it is so, please run the following test: power off Raspberry Pi 4 and restart Main Deco while Raspberry Pi 4 is offline. See if Main Deco will behave correctly with Raspberry Pi 4 out of the picture.

If it does, the workaround would be to connect Raspberry Pi 4 to Satellite Deco.

  @Alexandre. strange.. the RPI4 it just like any other PC with Linux OS...

anyway how I can do that test, if Im saying this this happens sometimes and not always...

doing that can go good or bad.. since the issue is inconsistency not constant.

The result will not be real to confirm what is the issue.

tell me something I can see in the logs to know how the auto-sensing goes..

  @Alexandre. connecting to the Second Deco is not an option.
since that Deco is connected by Wifi to the Main Deco, so it does't have the optimal bandwidth speed compare if its in the Main Deco..

  @ezeb

You can read more about WAN/LAN autosensing and topic discussion here: WAN/LAN auto-sensing

I can only suggest workaround, it is up to you if you want to try it or not. Perhaps, TP-Link Support will be more helpful, or you might find good recommendations in more than 170 replies in the forum topic I provided you with the link to.

  @Alexandre. yes Im familiwar with that post.
1 year back there were other issues  with internet ISP disconnect, etc and TPLINK fix it by making the WAN port auto sensing always to the same ethernet not matter what unless it was manually unplugged, and with that was resolved.

Now the issue that Im seeing is that after a reboot and no ehternat cables where unplugged and internet is working fine before/after the auto-sense is chainging and blocking some of port, since the last firmware.

So Im suspecting a new bug introducced.

Lest wait to David to replied.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

May I know the model number of the network switch?

In addition to "WAN-LAN Auto-sensing," a network loop is another potential cause for concern. If your network switch has a feature called "Loop detection," you may want to try temporarily disabling it to see if it has any impact.

By the way, So far, how many times have you experienced this issue?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP Hi,

The Switch is not manageable so I can't enable or disable features, etc.

Model: tplink  TL-SG1005D

Only two times, and today 6AM morning after the daily restart the error I describe it did'tn happen.

I will change to something like 8PM for the auto-restart so if its happens again and can go quickly and check the Logs and report here.

  @ezeb I also facing issue on my X50 after upgraded to firmware 1.4.1 Build 20231122 Rel. 40485.  My issue is the X50 auto-sensing port not working well. My internet is 500mbps/100mbps but I only get 100/100 on my 2nd Deco X50 which link via ethernet cable to upstairs.  Any possible solution to fix this?

  @Xray

Hi, Thanks for the feedback.

I don't think the speed issues here has anything to do with X50 auto-sensing port.

Could you mind telling me how you found out the Ethernet port link speed on the 2nd Deco X50 is only 100/100?

Are they connected via an Ethernet cable directly, or via any network switch?

Since satellite Deco X50 units work the same, could you please swap the location of the two satellite Deco X50s to see whether the same speed issue occurred to another X50?

Thank you very much and best regards.
