What are the parental controls like on the Deco S4 and S7?

Model: Deco S4
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I'm currently with Virgin Media (Hub 3) and want to improve the WiFi around the house.

The TP-Link Deco S4 and S7 look like good options(?).

But what are the parental controls like? The VM Hub 3.0 is pretty poor.

I'd like to be able to block YouTube on our Sony TV in the mornings. Would that be easy? The TV would ideally be connected via ethernet but can connect via WiFi if needed.

Would that be easy to set up on the Decos, and would it work once set up?

I know enforcing these rules in person on my kids is the best approach but I can't seem to do that as they always end up on YouTube Shorts when they should be getting ready. I don't mind them watching Netflix etc but YouTube Shorts is too much.

Telling my kids not to watch it doesn't really work as they're already dopamine-compromised by these services! Same as me, I use apps to block apps on my phone.

So, how easy is it to block specific domains/URLs on the Deco devices?

Thanks for reading...

  @DecoParent

Hi, welcome to the community.

As for the parental control on Deco S4/S7, you could take the following link as a reference:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/1598/

You could manually add specific domains/URLs(up to 16) under "Blocked Content".

The "Blocked Content" doesn't support adding time schedules for it.

Thank you very much and best regards.
