Deco M5 (v3 f/w 1.7.6) will not onboard Tapo P100 (v1.2/v2 f/w 1.2.1)
Just wondering if anyone else has seen this issue recently as, considering all devices are on current f/w, I believe there may be an issue...
Using android Deco app - on attempting to pair a Tapo P100 Wi-Fi Socket (UK) on f/w v1.2.1 to Deco M5 (v3) f/w 1.7.6 process reports 'the current firmware version of the deco router is not supported'. Previous Tapo f/w version allows pairing and operation perfectly across both Deco and Tapo apps.
Once a socket is paired successfully with Deco but at the previous f/w version on upgrading to f/w 1.2.1 the socket shows off-line (and remains so) from Deco smart home functionality although is still on-line from a network P.o.V. Socket remains perfectly functional through the Tapo app.
Any ideas?

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.
The reported issue might be related to the following QA:
3. Why does Deco APP report "The current firmware version of the Deco router is not supported. Please check if there is a newer version and update before continuing" when adding a smart device?
To enhance device security, Tapo and Kasa recently upgraded to the new security protocol, KLAP. However, some models of Deco routers have not yet synchronized with this protocol. KLAP will be added gradually through firmware updates on Deco.
Deco models that supports KLAP: X20_V4, X20-4G_V2, X50/X55_V1/V1.2, X60_3.0, BE95_V1, BE85 V1/V2
Best regards.

@LCharlie Thank you very much for your time and patience.
Deco M5_1.7.8 still doesn't support KLAP yet so the Tapo devices can't be set up directly through Deco APP. So far, it is still suggested to configure the Tapo devices directly through the Tapo App.
Hi, I'm afraid there hasn't been any updated news about the firmware release roadmap of Deco M5. I will check with the engineers to see whether they had any workaround/beta available. Will update here as soon as I receive further reply,
Thanks again and best regards.
Update:
Hi All, The following beta firmware of Deco M5 has added the KLAP protocol to optimize the collaboration with Tapo smart devices:
Deco M5(V1/1.2/2/3/3.2) | 1.7.3_build_20240102_Beta |
Update Advice:
1. Please be sure you have read the Beta Test Agreement before upgrading the Pre-release firmware!
2. Please make sure the Deco APP is up-to-date.
3. The pre-release versions could revert to the current official versions directly via web UI if needed-- How to Downgrade Deco.

@TheHundredth I'm having the same issue with a brand new xe75 deco. My tapo L510 bulbs or P110 and P100s will not connect via the setup screen in the deco app. I've reset the devices and checked they will connect to the Deco iot network , but no joy operating from the deco app. Have gone back to the Tapo app.

Hi @David-TP, I've been suffering from the same problem and this thread was reported 6 months ago, and it still hasn't been fixed. Is it impossible to fix?

Hi @David-TP
I am having the same problem: Deco M5 devices running on Firmware version 1.7.8 Build 20240719 Rel. 70981 cannot onboard a Tapo P115 Smart Plug. On the Tapo forum I was told that "Tapo and Kasa recently upgraded to the new security protocol, KLAP. However, some models of Deco routers have not yet synchronized with this protocol".
Is there any roadmap to update the Deco M5 Router Firmware to become compatible with the KLAP Protocol?
