  @Alexandre. Happy New Year and Thank you very much for the feedback.

Could you please help me submit the Deco APP log-

How to submit Deco APP log

There is a beta firmware that is based on the latest 1.4.4 version which might help with the current issue. If you are interested, you can find it in the private message.

Wait for your reply and best regards.

  @David-TP

I have submitted app logs and sent reply to your private message with ticket # under which these logs can be found.

I have installed beta firmware you sent me on Satellite Deco unit I am using for testing the problem. Firmware was installed successfully, but problem still remains. I'll attach screenshot of Satellite Deco with beta firmware version from Deco app at the bottom of this post.

At most, the problem became intermittent, with very low success rate, but it might have been intermittent before and I just didn't notice it. I ran multiple test cases, collected logs from Satellite Deco and added timeline of events (such as LED change) to the notes.

I did run the following test cases and have them with DEBUG and INFO logs from Satellite Deco:

1. Satellite Deco runs on WiFi backhaul, gets connected with Ethernet cable to the switch 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. End result: success, Deco behaves as expected.

2. Satellite Deco runs on WiFi backhaul, gets connected with Ethernet cable to the switch gigabit Ethernet port. End result: failure, Satellite Deco keeps reporting WiFi backhaul in Deco app, occasionally getting errors in Deco app "unable to refresh this page". Despite reporting WiFi backhaul in Deco app, Satellite Deco uses Ethernet backhaul.

3. Satellite Deco powered off. Powering it on while connected by Ethernet cable to the switch 2.5Gbps Ethernet port. End result: success.

4. Satellite Deco powered off. Powering it on while connected by Ethernet cable to the switch gigabit Ethernet port. End result: success. (success happened just once in all attemtps).

5. Satellite Deco powered off. Powering it on while connected by Ethernet cable to the switch gigabit Ethernet port. End result: failure. Deco app keeps reporting Satellite Deco offline, while in fact it is up, LED is green, uses Ethernet backhaul, PC hardwired to it has Internet access.

-----------

Test cases #4 and #5 are exactly the same: no change in wiring, anything. Just power off Satellite Deco, power it on - and got success just once, failure all other times.

It does not seem Deco logs are verbose enough even in DEBUG mode to see what is going on. Yet, if developer is interested, comparing logs for Case #4 and Case #5 might offer clues.

I also noticed that in Case #4 LED stayed red solid for about 30 seconds before changing to green. In Case #5 LED was red solid for over 4 minutes. I was thinking Deco won't come online at all, but LED changed to green on the 5-th minute. I have that in my notes.

Logs are too large to attach here, but if developer wants them feel free to contact me and I'll email or submit them.

Unfortunately, I may not be able to run tests on my Deco mesh again. This was Deco unit that I have found I do not need for my Deco mesh, I'll return it shortly to retailer while still in return window. The rest of my Deco mesh serves my household and after spending time during initial setup trying to to figure what is wrong I would be reluctant to mess with working Deco mesh I have.

Especially because this issue, if it is not just one off at my place, should be very easy to reproduce.

  @Alexandre.

Hi, Thank you very much for the APP logs.

They will be forwarded to the senior engineers for further analysis.

Both POE ports on the Deco X50-POE_V2 are up to 2.5G, and I believe many users might happen to use a gigabit  POE switch to power them up. If the bug does exist, there might be similar feedback later. I’ll keep close attention to any new updates or feedback on this issue.

Thanks again and best regards.
