Model: Tapo C510W
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.3.2

My C510W auto updated to the lastest firmware from 1.2.3.

Since then it has stopped tracking movements, merely staying in the same position. It records on movement detection but the camera does not move.

So, I powered down the camera and powered it up again. Now it won't connect to the wifi network and I can't see the camera on the Tapo app. My router no longer shows the camera as an active device.

I have rebooted a number of times but the camera is no longer accessible on my network.

How can I get this working again?

Hi,
From the problem phenomenon, it seems the camera is removed from the Tapo app, which means the camera is reset.

Please check the LED status on the camera, if it's flashing green and red, you can try to reconfigure it.
If the camera does not have a flashing green and red light, you can press the reset button on it for 10 seconds to factory reset it, then reconfigure it for a try.
How to set up the Tapo camera

Best Regards

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA

I have now got the camera working again.

I think what happens is that when you update the firmware it appears to disable Motion Tracking maybe.

Somehow powering the camera off and back on completely loss the camera's connection to my network. No LEDs were showing on the camera.

I did end up resetting the camera using a paper clip, but since this camera is located outside and under the gutter line, it involves using a ladder and removing the cover (2 screws) to access the reset button. This is not easy when you are 20 feet up a ladder!

I hope that I am not having to do this too often to get the camera working again.

I have turned off automatic updates of the firmware.

Where can I find firmware release notes prior to installing the latest firmware?

Hi,
You can go to the official website, search for your camera's model, go to its Support page, select the hardware version, and tap the Firmware Release Note column to see the firmware release notes.

Typically, the new firmware won't disable the motion tracking feature. If the camera does not connect to Wi-Fi after reboot, you can reboot the router and then reboot the camera for a try.

  @Solla-topee

Thanjs for tge information on finding the telease notes. I havd turned off automatic firmware update now given the issues moving from 1.2.3 which results in short recordings and events being missed.

Is there a fixed schedule for this issue (anytine soon) or anyway to revert the camera's firmware back to 1.2.3?

Regards,

AJ

  @AABBCC_CCBBAA

Hi,
There are no instructions to downgrade the firmware of the camera, and there's currently no plan to change the working mechanism of the new firmware since it won't change the camera detection functionality and will not result in missed detection events in theory.

However, if you experience missed detection events or incomplete recordings after updating to the latest firmware, we will help to solve it. And it would be appreciated if you could provide the information mentioned on this thread for further analysis.

Best Regards

I am experiencing missed events owing to the shortened recording time following the end of such an event. I have sent a video to @Solla-topee clearly showing a missed event (not shown on the video as it is missed by the recording). Please let me know if you require further information. Regards, AJ
