Tapo Application - Notification Sounds
Tapo Application - Notification Sounds

Please configure the Tapo application to allow for customizable notification sounds, at minimum for the Tapo application itself, but ideally for each individual Tapo device.
Forcing the Tapo application to use only the default system notification sound does not give the user any ability to audibly distinguish important Tapo notifications from routine notifications such as emails, texts, or similar events which use the same default system notification sound. Not all device OS allow for app-specific notification sounds.
This makes for a frustrating experience using Tapo app, and I am inclined to use a third-party RTSP service for management of Tapo devices, rather than the paid Tapo app, for the sole reason of being able to customize notifications.

Hi,
1. The Tapo app is free, and you can download it from Google Play or App Store.
2. If you have an Android phone, you can usually set a different notification sound for the Tapo app on your phone settings(click here for reference).
3. For the doorbell camera, if you want to receive a ring call when someone presses the doorbell, please go to the doorbell's Device Settings > Doorbell > Doorbell Video Call page, select the Ring Call option, and tap Grant Permission to ensure the related permissions are enabled on your phone.
Best Regards

@Solla-topee Some (not most) Android versions allow custom notifications per app. Most Android versions do NOT allow for custom notifications per app.
Ring is also a free app available on Google Play Store and App Store, but it allows custom notification sounds that are very useful to people who actually use the product.
Tapo app should add option to customize notification sounds, to be truly competitive. It is a glaringly absent feature that its competitors easily accomplish.

@Solla-topee I really hope this isn't an AI reply, because it says the exact same thing as before.
The issue is simple. Your customers need a separate sound alert for your cameras and sensors. The APP should be able to provide this. This request has been in subject for over a year, and over multiple threads.
It is literally keeping me, and so many others from purchasing any more TAPO devices until it is fixed.
As a provider, you should be trying to keep your customers, but your refusal to fix this simple issue is driving you customers away.
We will only put up with this for so long, then we will just replace TAPO with something that at least tells us what we need to know in our notifications.
Your cameras are so awesome with such advanced starlight night vision and AI detections, but fall so short on the notifications, that they just don't live up to there potential.
SERIOUSLY.... fix this and I (we) would be buying enough cameras to surround..our houses. Don't let this easy fix drive away your customer base.

@Tim-G I totally agree. The only sound option that I see is for baby crying which is just dumb. What if an intruder breaks a window or a fire alarm goes off... Come on Tapo.... why would we want a security camera. Please implement this generic audio feature.
