Connection speed fluctuates dramatically

I have a C310 and a C210 and on both cameras the speeds fluctuate between 100s of kB/s to 20 or so kB/s.
It has been happening for a long time. I'm not sure if it has always happened.
They are both on different WIFI connections and I'm pretty sure it is the same for my sister's (who doesn't live with me).
I'm thinking it's something with the app, but I don't know..
Is anyone else having the same issue, and does anyone know how to fix it?
