@Elroy1 it's not easy to go to another brand because we have to spend it a lot of money on tp-link they have better features make other brands charge the same amount but more features than tp-link they need that to improve that or am i wrongother brands provide dos firewall tp-link not speed test function you do not have with tp-link WiFi often drops out every time physical power is turned on, the range of WiFi is weak than other brands have better range with the same amount, sorry but I am honest
@Pro-gamer, @Elroy1 it's even more difficult than only cost.
For example I have a Netgear 970 series WiFi 7 kit. It works well but has very limited features and I would use it except that I actually want the security add-on but my son hates the bit defender product and says he will through the routers in the bin if I put them back in service LOL. But there's more, the security add-on is broken in many ways which makes it a great security system that's nothing more than a good idea (even after waiting literally years for it to be fixed) ...
Then there's ASUS ... ASUS have a nasty habit of releasing top end routers that basically don't work! People say if you can endure being a beta tester for a year of so they work great and they do. But for my part they have no per-device on-the-go security add-on which I want and their new WiFi 7 devices are particularly bad this time around. TBH I think some of the WIFI 7 devices may work ok but the ones I have don't, GT-BE98 and ZenWiFi BQ16 2 pack.
I think the only hi-end one left I don't have is eero ... and looking at reviews their security add-on looks even more basic than the TP Link security add-on and, like TP Link, is also too limited in the number of device licenses allowed with the add-on.
Anyway, they are the facts as I see them.

@Bauhaus Hi, there is firewall protection on every router brand except TP-Link
Archer GE800 does support DDoS Protection, as you can check from its User Guide (Pages 59-60).
While it is an advanced security feature that requires a paid subscription, check out more details by visiting our HomeShield splash page.

On Firmware Version: 1.2.1 Build 20250610 rel.39070(5553) I notice if I click on Advanced/Traffic Monitor for the GE800, it instantly shoots me back to the Log In screen every single time no matter what. Anyone else have this bug?
@Jaybonaut It appears to be a random incident, and I saw you discussed with Joseph here.
Please monitor the connectivity and let us know if the issue persists. Please let us know in detail how to trigger it.
Thank you very much.

For my point of view, regarding the price of this router (expensive!), it should have been included for free. It’s a bit tricky that we have to pay for it. (or at least one year or two for free). It's my first TP-Link router and I was surprised about it. Asus usually provide everything for free regarding security.

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion.
I will definitely pass it on to the decision-makers for their serious consideration as they evaluate the pricing of related services moving forward.

@Kevin_Z hi, what I noticed is 5ghz, if you choose DFS above 100 channels, the connection is lost, but then you can no longer connect to 1 device unless you switch between 34 . Select the 65 channel, but then your speed will be lower

I have to second this, especially the DDoS protection, which is a pretty important function for something that's specifically a "gaming" router. At ~60/yr just to get this function that Asus offers for free (among the other advanced features that are all free), the price advantage of TP-Link vs Asus turns into a disadvantage after just a couple years.
A high end, expensive "gaming" router should have DDoS protection out of the box.

Hello, if a router is vulnerable and does not have DDoS security, the router can easily be hacked, broken and seen everything including internet IP addresses and connected devices. That's why TP-Link should add DDoS security to its latest gaming router for free, just like Asus even modem providers give free security. why we buy router because latest technology and more options features

Want to chime in that after reverting to 116 I can confirm that the game detection just appears to be broken on 121. On 121, it doesn't seem to detect when there are games active on the PCs (either plugged into the dedicated game port or manually added to the list). When it does detect a game is launched, it tends to list it as some generic thing like "Unreal Engine" and it doesn't stay active. Lists sessions of only a few Kb and only a couple minutes when the game was being played much longer.
Definitely concerning to see the primary feature of the product getting broken by a firmware update. Is gaming prioritization no longer a focus of the product's ongoing development? It's clear nobody tested it during the 116 to 121 changes.

Also, is there no SQM on here? Is the QoS supposed to be doing it? I'm seeing very poor scores on bufferbloat tests.
