Phenomenon Description:
Several users have reported that the internet is not working when mobile routers are using Smart Sim. Possible Reasons and Suggestions:
Users can generally use a Smart SIM card in a mobile router just like we did on a smartphone. Occasionally, there might be some limitations depending on the type of Smart SIM you have. We found Smart Communications has recently updated its SIM card Terms and Conditions, including modifications to "The Hardware" type of the terminal equipment/unit connected to or used in conjunction with the SMART telecommunication networks. They shall be of a type approved by SMART. Otherwise, some security measures might be applied to restrict the Hardware bundled with a Smart SIM Plan for its Services ( https://smart.com.ph/Corporate/terms/postpaid)
Such as:
• Smart Prepaid/Postpaid SIM & TNT SIM Plan: For mobile phones/tablets only
• Smart Rocket SIM Plan: Mainly for pocket Wi-Fi devices
• Smart Fam SIM Plan: Mainly for 5G/LTE routers
If you had a similar issue, please check the SIM package description and identify your Smart SIM type. If it is similar to the situation described above, please try to contact Smart and change to another SIM plan, such as the Smart Rocket SIM card or Smart Fam SIM card.
