Model: Deco BE95
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20241217 Re;. 38308

Hello,

Here is my home configuration:

Bell Modem 3GB fibre connection (basement) -> Deco BE95 (basement) -> Switch which is used to connect via cable the other computers, access points (attic), and the 2nd DECO (main floor). In addition to the hardwired devices, this provices a Wi-Fi 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, 6 GHz, and MLO (5 GHz & 6 GHz). Using HomeShield and Parental Controls (paid to have them fully enabled.

Almost everything is working fine except a quite interesting issue that only happens with one MacBook Air when using Google Chrome to browse Internet and when connect wireless (WiFi) or hardwired (ethernet cable) to the configuration above.

- The issue is that pages do not load (time-out) or take extremely long to load resulting on a time-out.

- This issue does not happen when using Safari. Only Google Chrome. Only for this laptop.

- This issue also does not happen if I bypass the Deco.

- In other words, whe I connect this laptop via Wi-Fi or cable directly to the Bell modem or when via Hotspot using the iPhone.

- In addition, it does not happen when my son (who owns this laptop) uses it in his school.

- Finally, my other son, who also has a MacBook Air, does not experience this issue when he is using Chrome.

Having a background in IT, this is clearly something that is happening between this laptop/user and the Deco. Perhaps a settings in the Google Chrome that results being kind of blocked or delayed by the Deco BE95.

Has anyone experienced this type of issue?

Has anyone any suggestion to troubleshoot/debug this issue so I can identify and get it resolved?

Thank you in advance for any tip.

  @AndreLMM

Hi, can you consistently reproduce this issue on that specific MacBook Air?

Would the slow loading/time-out only occur for some web pages?

If possible, you can refer to the suggestions to check the process status via Chrome DevTools

https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/794930

Please try to share some screenshots of the network running logs/errors here.

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

  @AndreLMM @David-TP

I am also experiencing the exact same issue.   Just setup the Deco BE68 with a 3 mesh system.   All devices except for one MacBook pro are working fine on the network.  And my experience with which scenarios work and which don't are nearly identical with @

- Google chrome is intermittent but mostly does not work for the majority of use cases tested

   - connecting to Gmail account will load some things but the calendar view times out

  - just trying to load Google.com to attempt a search times out. (I verified that it's a time out issue using Chrome dev tools)

- Safari is working fine without issues for the exact same URLs and web apps

- When the MacBook air is connected via ethernet to one of the mesh routers the problem resolves.   But the minute we re-establish a WiFi connection to the mesh network the problem re-appears

- Restarting the all Mesh devices temporarily resolves the problem, but it it eventually re-occurs

- We still have our other WiFi network with a TP Link Archer AXE75 router and this MacBook pro has no problems with WiFi

Also here's some basic Deco setup config:

- all 3 channels active (2.5, 5, 6)

- Separate IoT network is setup but with a slightly different name (uses an _IoT prefix for SSID) and totally different password

- No Guest network

- MLO is not active

- IPv6 is active

- Wireless Network Mode set to High Capacity

- no parental controls or profiles setup

- no QoS enabled

- no VPNs

- IPTV/VLAN disabled

- MAC Clone disabled

- DDNS disabled

- Fast roaming disabled

- Operation Mode is Wi-Fi router

- No address reservations setup

I'm going to try resetting my Mesh network as well as the network settings on the MacBook and try to reconnect everything.  I'll post back with results.

  @AndreLMM David-TP

I have a new interesting piece of info.  When I switch the Operation Mode over from WiFI Router to Access Point, Chrome starts working fine again!

I should add that I do not have a different router connected between the Decos and my Fiber modem.

However,  I don't think this is a permanent solution as it renders many of the features I paid for in purchasing the Deco units disabled.
