Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.5

This behavior is to be watched as of mid of dec, 2025

 

This is an app problem, same behavior with all my cams (110, 210, 220, 520)

This appears only on my android phone, app version is 3.16.108. Android tablet (pinned 3.2.204) and IOS (3.15.106) are not affected

 

What i do: in the 'manage' screen of the device i tap on still-cam symbol

What i expect: short animation of the live picture shrinking and moving down-left

What happens instead: phone screan fades for half a second, then Tapo app restarts showing home screen

 

Despite the crash the photo is stored in com.tplink/files/memory (but not shown in the android gallery)


Engaging movie-cam symbol works as usual

Hi, 
Please uninstall the Tapo app on your Android phone, copy this link, paste it into your phone's browser, and click on Enter to download and install the new Tapo app. Then you can check if this app works fine.

  @Solla-topee txs for ther quick respond/solution!

just one question: i guess, uninstalling the current version will affect all (33!) tapo widgets configured on my device, will it?

Hi, 
Usually, uninstalling the Tapo app will affect the existing Tapo widgets.

By the way, the Tapo app v3.16.108 is a Tapo beta app. If you download it from Google Play, it's recommended to refer to the instructions below to leave the beta program, then download the latest official Tapo app from Google Play to control your Tapo devices.

I'm sorry, but I can't test that because of the widget loss. The pain of recreating all 30 widgets is so much greater than occasionally copying a photo from the application folder.

 

I'll post here if the application behavior changes with a regular Play Store update.
