Model: Tapo C100
Hardware Version: V5
Firmware Version: 1.3.5

Even though my camera is set to 720p (on main screen and in recording settings) it still makes 1080p files, meaning a 256gb SD card fills up every two weeks, my C210 never had this problem. Please help!

Hi,
If the video recordings stored on the C100's SD card are 1080P even when the video quality is set to 720P, it means the camera's SD card recordings have a default 1080P resolution; it's unchangeable.

According to the instructions below, when the camera is recording at 1080P @15fps, the 256GB SD card can record video continuously for 768 hours (about 32 days).
What type of microSD card does Tapo/Kasa Camera support?

You can go to the camera's Device Settings > Video & Display > Frame Rate to select the 15fps option for long recording time, and on the camera's Storage & Recording > Local Storage page, you can enable the Loop Recording feature, so the new recordings will overwrite the oldest video recordings when storage is not enough.

Best Regards

  @Pukehiki

Hi,
This is not an issue, but the video quality design varies across different Tapo camera models. For some models, such as the Tapo C100, the Video Quality setting only affects the Live View page, meaning that the default resolution for saved video recordings is the highest supported by the camera. In contrast, for some other models, the Video Quality setting applies to both the Live View page and the video recordings.
Best Regards
