You need to use your BE65 at the main router, as using the BE85 will only allow a network with features specific to the BE85. If you swapped out the 85 to make a 65 the main unit, you'll see the new features. USe the 'swap main Deco within the Deco app for an easy swap out.

@ToneAU

"The Default SSID" is the SSID name when Deco is in configuration mode and hasn't been set up. It is also printed on the device label.

It is for display only and will not broadcast this SSID after setup.

Best regards.

Thanks... i think i will wait for the BE85 to be updated as i am short of time at the moment to change things, but it is tempting to see those new features.

Appreciate the reply David. If that is the case from your reply, then the firmware has an issue, my main deco shows in the app; Deco_6056, the second mesh Deco shows; Deco_605C and the third Deco shows; Deco_99E0

Which is all bizarre. The actual broadcast SSID is correct and works, at this stage, as it should.

Hi,  the last four characters would be used as the default SSID, such as Deco_XXXX. Every Deco has its dedicated MAC addresss so the default SSID is also different.

Hello,

How can we use both DoT and DoH DNS settings on our BE65 v2 devices? I entered DNS for DoT and then DNS values for DoH, but I can only see one of them.

Saygı ve Selamlarımla! Best Regards!

Hi David! My network configuration is pretty simple, All Decos are BE65 Main Deco >>> Switch >>> Satellite Deco A and B (not daisy chained, both using different switch port) the issues that i found is that 1. Sometimes the main deco switched from Main Deco to Deco A (or B sometimes) 2. During the "switch" , internet access is gone. Restarting Main Deco seems to fix the problem. But i got this problem at least once a day.

@David-TP running the latest Beta Firmware 1.3.0 Build 20260122. Despite the stability improvements mentioned in the changelog, the system continues to experience kernel-level crashes of the nrd (Network Resource Director) service.

The system logs show a recurring crash loop of the nrd process triggered by an inability to parse management frames from certain devices. This results in service restarts (PID changes) and temporary freezes of the internal switch fabric, affecting both wireless and wired (Ethernet) clients.

"nrd[XXXXX]: wlanifBSteerEventsBufRdCB: Invalid message len: 48 bytes daemon.err

nrd[XXXXX]: send cmd: 35823 ioctl failed daemon.err

nrd[XXXXX]: qca_delete_wds_entry: failed to send ioctl estimatorCmnHandleBeaconReportEvent: Beacon report for STA [REDACTED] in unexpected state 2"

Symptoms Observed:

  1. Immediate disassociation of legacy devices (Epson L3250, IoT sensors) during steering attempts.

  2. "Invalid message len: 48 bytes" error flooding the logs seconds before the nrd service restarts.

  3. Ethernet-connected PC experiencing socket timeouts/0x5 errors when the nrd service colapses.

Steps Taken:

  • Tested in both AP Mode and Router Mode.

  • Forced WPA2-AES only (to avoid PMF/WPA3 conflicts).

  • Disabled Fast Roaming, Beamforming, and Mesh Technology for problematic MACs.

  • Updated to the latest Beta firmware.

This appears to be a firmware-level bug in how the Qualcomm Wi-Fi 7 steering engine handles 802.11k/v/r frames from certain legacy chipsets.

I have detailed logs available if needed. Additionally:

I know that this is a beta firmware, however I have also identified that this specific Beta build is logging the Wi-Fi password in plaintext within the syslog during the VAP initialization: "daemon.err nrd[XXXXX]: netdb_apHandleInitVapFromIfname: vap: ath1, password: [MY_PASSWORD_WAS_HERE], len: XX."
