My 2 Tapo 510w Cameras Bricked after firmware update
Friday - last edited Tuesday
Model: Tapo C510W
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.3

I have three Tapo 510w cameras of which two of them were enabled for auto-update. Since the day they were upgraded to 1.3.3, they went offline and when today I visited the my place to check on what went wrong, I saw both of the cameras literally dead. While the third Tapo 510w which is still on 1.2.3 version is working absolutely fine. What do I do now? Failure with both the cameras simultaneously points to the software issue. I did power cycling for both the cameras, tried resetting them as well but nothing seems to work out. Can someone help solve this issue and I'm mad with Tapo shipping such faulty update for their cameras. Pretty unreliable.

Hi,
For the reported phenomenon, please confirm the following information for further analysis.

  1. What's the LED status on the camera? Is it solid red, and does it not respond to the reset operation?

  2. Is an SD card inserted into the camera? If so, please check the SD card's model number and capacity.

  3. During the daytime, please unplug and replug the camera's power cord. Record a video of the camera starting up with audio enabled and share it with us, and pay attention to whether you hear a "click" sound from the IR cut switch and how many times it makes the sound.

  4. Additionally, please take a photo of the front of the camera showing the status of the LED lights and the IR indicator lights, and share it with us.

  5. Send me(@Solla-topee) the camera's MAC address via a private message.

You can upload the video and picture to your cloud server (such as Google Drive), generate a download link, and send it to me (@Solla-topee) via a private message.

Best Regards
