BE400 v1 firmware 1.2.3 issues - SSID advertising but nothing could connect until.....
Spent a few hours troubleshooting my BE400 after it upgraded from 1.2.1 to 1.2.3
Background: I use it only as an access point. I only had 5ghz on previously. single access point, mesh off. simple enough, right.
worked perfectly fine on 1.2.1 but I couldn't get anything to connect after it upgraded. phone, laptops, TVs.....
Solution/Bug:
I tried most parameters in an attempt to connect. factory reset. mac filter off/on. scheduler on/off Smart connect. WPS. airtime fairness on/off. different channels, different mixed modes. Changed 5g to open security and still couldn't connect.
Finally I turned on the 2.4 band with a unique SSID name and I was able to connect to the 5GHz band.
Re-enabled Personal3/2PSK for 5GHz and all was still good.
I thought I would share just in case others experience issues with both 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 beta
previously no issues running just 5Ghz by itself. I left 2.4 on simply because it works although I don't use it.
Hoping someone from TP sees this to both test and correct.
thanks

Hello @dean701 ,
Thanks for contacting our community.
May I confirm whether you have tested the 1.2.4 beta? Is it also the case that 5G cannot be connected?
Have you downgraded to version 1.2.1 now? If not, could you please change your router to Wireless router mode for comparison?
You mentioned comparing enabling and disabling Smart Connect. Do you usually disable Smart Connect?

the point is that the device does not function at all as an access point having only 5ghz enabled. For any wireless to work, you must enable both 2.4 and 5 ghz. If you only enable 5ghz nothing will connect. If you enable both then you can get devices to connect on 5ghz. Kind of a silly question about rolling back the code. 1.2.3 cannot be rolled back. If that were the case I would go back to 1.2.1

Hello @dean701 ,
Thanks for contacting our community again.
You mentioned being unable to connect to 5G. What exactly is the client-side behavior? For instance, does it show "Connected to Wi-Fi, but no internet," or does the phone keep spinning endlessly—unable to obtain an IP address—when you try to connect? Or is there a different error message?
Have you tried switching to Wireless mode? Are you still experiencing the same issue where you are unable to connect to the 5G network?

5G as in 5Ghz. the ssid is advertisd but no device can connect.
I am not looking to troubleshoot with you. I am simply giving you the info that without 2.4Ghz enabled, the 5Ghz band will not accept connections.
I am using this an access point and not looking to configure it in any other way. at this point, it is powered off and won't be used until the code is fixed.

Hello @dean701 ,
Thanks for getting back to us.
We fully understand and respect your decision not to serve as a tester. You are the first user to report this specific issue, and we require further details to attempt to reproduce the anomaly.
If it is convenient for you, could you provide a backup of your router's configuration file? This would allow us to attempt to reproduce the problem under an identical configuration, which would be extremely helpful in pinpointing the root cause. And we will prioritize submitting your case to our engineering team for immediate attention.
Of course, should you choose to stand by your original decision, we will continue to fully respect your wishes. ![]()
Best Regards.

attached is a barebones config; admin password is adminadmin11
you will notice if both 2.4 and 5 are enabled you will be able to connect to ssid 'test5' with password testtesttest.
If you disconnect from test5 and then disable 2.4 only, you will no longer be able to connect to 'test5'
