Tapo H200 is the hub included in Tapo C420S2, it supports 2.4GHz WiFi and ethernet. But please note that an Ethernet connection is required during initial setup. Once the configuration is complete, you can switch to a Wi-Fi connection or keep using Ethernet — whichever works best for you.

The Tapo C420S2 Hub doesn't connect directly to Wi-Fi. The hub needs to be connected to your router with an Ethernet cable, while the cameras communicate wirelessly with the hub.

If your basement is far from the router, you may want to look into options like running an Ethernet cable, using MoCA adapters, or trying a reliable powerline networking setup. The best solution usually depends on your home's layout.

I ran into a similar challenge when planning a dedicated workspace and media area during a basement remodeling baltimore project. One thing I made sure of was having proper network access before finishing the space because Wi-Fi dead zones can become frustrating once everything is completed.

If running a cable isn't possible, a powerline adapter paired with the hub is probably the first option I'd test. How far is your basement from the router, and do you have any existing Ethernet or coax connections available?
