My Tapo D235 keeps on disconnecting from my H200 hub (fw 1.6.1 Build 20251230 rel.64168) and records only locally even without an SD Card inside.

 

I used to use my D235 stand alone with a 256Gb MicroSD Card then recently I bought the H200 hub, moved the 256Gb MicroSD Card there and inserted a 64Gb SD card to the doorbell. My hub is connected to the router directly via LAN cable.

It was running smoothly for 4 days then at the 5th I noticed that the recordings are just kept in the camera storage. Set it back to hub recording but just after a few seconds returns back to local recording

 

Here's what I tried.

1. Format both SD Cards of the Doorbell and Hub.

2. Swapped SD Cards (64 to the hub, 256 to the Doorbell)

3. Removed the doorbell's SD Card and it still tries to record locally! 

4. Turned Wifi-Backup on/off

5. Reboot my Wifi Router

6. Check for the latest firmware on both devices, both are latest.

7. Factory reset both devices.

8. Checked the wifi status from the doorbell and it's good, 3 bars (-52 RSSI)

9. Connected my C520WS outdoor cam to the Hub without any issues

 

With test #9, seems like my doobell cam is the issue, can this be fixed?

Could you clarify this point (#3)? If the SD card is removed from the doorbell, how could it continue attempting to record onto that SD card? What made you think it was still trying to record?

 

Also, in your description, does “record locally” specifically refer to recording onto the SD card installed in the doorbell itself?

  @Wayne-TP  it doesn't record. no video recorded since there's no SD card. I said "tries" because the doorbell still disconnectds from the HUB and when I check the D235 settings, Local Storage -> Storage Location it says Camera Storage instead of Hub Storage. I'm also not sure why the camera still choose the Camera storage even if there's no SD card.


What made you think it was still trying to record?

To clarify, I receive camera alerts on my notification, clicking it will lead me to the playback & downloads page but there's nothing.

"record locally" means within the doorbell itself not to the Hub.
