Model: Deco X50  
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.8.0

I am using the bell home hub 4000 as the main router. When the X50 is connected in Access Point mode, I cannot maintain stable wifi connection. Randomly devices will drop internet when connected via wifi. 
 

I have tried multiple configurations for the Deco units. Main router then each Deco connected individually and also connected in series. 
 

Pretty frustrating as I was hoping to have a nice mesh system but the performance of these two units seemingly worse than one single bell router 

 

any tips before I return these units? Just feel like theyre faulty or something how poorly they perform.

I only have about 12 Wifi devices connected and I tried using IoT mode and not using it nothing helping :(

Following. I just got 3x deco 7 to improve my home Wi-Fi situation and I'm having the same thing happen.

You can refer to the following instructions to troubleshoot when your devices are experiencing instability.
Fix unstable connection when connected to the Deco network
 

Please confirm the following information if the same phenomenon persists.
  1. Please refer to the following instructions to find the Deco's model number and hardware version on the bottom label. On the Deco app > More > System > Update Deco page, please check the Deco's firmware version.
      How to Find the Hardware Version on Your TP-Link Device
  2. What's the LED status on the Deco nodes when the client devices lose internet?
  3. When a client device loses internet, please check whether it has an IP address. If so, try changing the device's DNS server and see if it works.
  4. How do your client devices restore the internet connection, such as by rebooting the Deco or waiting for some time?
