Model: Deco XE75
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.2.7 Build 20231011 Rel. 71327

Hi all,

Just updated my XE75 Pro to latest firmware (shown as available in the app). Firmware is 1.2.7 Build 20231011 Rel. 71327.

Noticed it has two new features (amongst others) called "Network Isolation" and "IoT Network".

As best I can tell selecting devices for "Network Isolation" prevents them from communicating with other devices on the network and allows them access to internet only. Seems like a great idea for IoT devices.

The "IoT Network" seems to allow creation of a new network (like a second Guest network?) which has individual username and password for placing IoT devices on.

Can someone confirm my definition for those new features? They seem to cover basically the same areas of preventing your IoT devices as being an entry point into attacking your network. If so, which would be the best way to go? Perhaps you're meant to use both methods for IoT devices?

Looking for any thoughts on this.

  @Pedro109

Hi,  you could have a look at this link:TP-Link IoT Network

And there is some information for your reference:

1. Devices connected to the IOT network, are not separated from each other and could also communicate with the main network.

2. Guest devices are separated from each other, and the main+IOT network.

So if you worry about " IoT devices as being an entry point into attacking your network", you could just add these two devices into Device Isolation.

Thank you very much and best regards.

  @David-TP

Thanks for the link and other info. Seems like the simplest way to isolate the IoT devices is to assign them "Network Isolation". I don't really need to assign them their own network as I don't think I need the "lesser" security protocols or needs to limit their bandwidth etc as is afforded by that feature. smiley
