Kasa Smart switches are changing time to 2070-01-01 (2069-12-31 in the US)
2020-12-24 06:46:00
Model: HS200
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:

In the past 3-4 weks after the latest firmware updates, all my Kasa switches are unable to keep track of the time and are switching to 2070-01-01 00:00:00 UTC (2069-12-31 in the US).

I found this happen in all the Kasa switches I own. The following are the models:

  1. HS220
  2. HS200
  3. HS210
  4. HS103

This seems to happen regardless of the switch state and this is causing my routines activations to fail and has been a pain. I've tried to reboot these switches programmatically to ensure they force sync with NTP servers and also followed the official documentation at https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1206/ to no luck.

Any ideas or thoughts into fixing this is appreciated.

@pyr0

Good day,

Sorry for the delay.

If you re-sync the time settings, would they go back to the correct one, then switch to the wrong time again?

Or it would stay on the wrong time no matter what we have done?

By the way, what is the model number of your home router?

Did other mobile devices in the home network have the same issue?

Thanks a lot and wait for your reply.
