Model: Tapo C200  
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.17

Just purchased Tapo C200 camera yesterday and the live view is fine but playback has a serious lag to the point it freezes then jumps ahead. SD card is good and has worked on previous cameras with no issues.
Can anyone help?

@age1985 Hello everyone, 

If Camera live feed lags or freeze,  here are some troubleshoot steps you could give it a try.

As router signal strength and quality plays an important role to ensure sooth live-streaming.
1. Ensure camera is receiving a good signal on the APP:
Tapo or Kasa app-> Camera Device Settings-> tap name of the device ->signal strength ( tap on the Wi-Fi icon to see the value of the dBm/RSSI)
(-40d- 68dBm is good to average, less than -68dBm is relatively poor : relocate camera or router to get stronger signal)
2. Try to ping camera IP address on the phone and see if there is any noticeable packet loss and share the ping results ( if issue happens under local/ home WiFi, then ping camera under home WiFi)
> check IP cameras of camera on Kasa app (Kasa app-> Camera settings)
> download a Ping tool app like Ping APP on the phone and ping camera IP for 2mins
3. Ensure Tapo app and camera are both up to date.
4. (*optional ) Try a different Wi-Fi channel on WiFi router

Download WiFi analyzer app and select a less crowded channel for router (this requires to reinstall  smart device, you may skip this step if you own multiple smart devices  )
5. Try a different phone and see if issue occurs on certain phone


If the issue persists despite the above steps, please kindly help confirm some details here to help us locate the issue: 

  • Model of your phone, and its Android or IOS version? e.g. iphone 12/ IOS 15.2
  • Does the lag happen in locally  (phone connected to Home WiFi) or happens remotely (when phone connected to an outside network or using mobile data  )? 
  • Please hare a video clip showing the problem ( you may share via Google Drive)
  • The model number of the WiFi router: 
  • Tapo app version: 
  • How about your network topology or Does camera connect or router directly or through extenders :

Please update your Tapo  app to the latest version first  in Google play or APP store. 

If still the same problem, can you give a short video clip for this problem and the tapo app version, thanks a lot.

the app is the latest version and still getting a significant lag on playback.  Short vid attached

@Kittycamsame issue with my tapo c200 and c210 freezes in live and playback remotely not viewable at all internet connection is good because we have computer shop and the pc'have good internet

Tapo application is uptodate and tapo camera firmware are also updated to the latest version we experiencing this for three weeks now
