Tapo C210 live view quality.
Tapo C210 live view quality.
Hello, with Tapo C210 I cannot set the live view quality and it looks like it is defaulted to LQ. This is possible for the C200 cameras I have. Why is a newer model missing this feature?

@Beannie Hello,
May I know the model of your camera , is it C210 or C310? For C210 V1, if your concern is with 3MP video quality, you could try the beta firmware shared by the users shared above. Please make sure your camera is on the latest firmware and APP is up-to-date as well.

@Beannie Sorry didn't realise it was all in one file.So I have flashed camera and it has lowered the quality of 1080p but not improved 3mp image,and keeps dropping connection now.I am going to a friend's house later to compare image with a cheaper 1080p camera but beginning to think I have bought a poor quality product!!

To be honest i am not entirely satisfied with the result of the latest update. It does seemed to improved slightly but not what you would expect from a 3MP cam.
If you download pictures shot from the C210 using diff resolutions and compare you will see that those taken with 3MP setting does give you a higher resolution "in the metadeta description". But in actual image, i barely see the difference.
So far I would say that the higher 3MP feature on the C210, unfortunately is only "good on paper". Hope it is a software glitch and they will fix it soon.
In the meantime, the C200 is a good enough cam, HQ mode is superb. Have some connectivity issues, need to do hard reboot or reset now and then, but those are common problems of all home use security cams that I have come to accept.
Let me know if you guys have the following issues.
1. Tapo app prompting you to tap on "continue viewing" every 5 minutes
2. Camera goes offline every once in a while and have to unplug power/re-add camera to get it working
3. Recording on microSD card fails and need to reformat card to get it to work again (now that my cam is hooked up to my Synology NAS, doesn't bother me anymore)
cheers.

And yes, the C210 3MP image does not look any better than the 1080 image of C200 or other cams.

@LFOoi Hi yes I get the message every five minutes,camera has started to go off line I get a blank screen with refresh in the middle and have to do a hard reset,to be honest no problem with sd card.But the image is dreadful,I did compare it to a friend's 1080p camera and that was far much better!Like you say let's hope it is a firmware issue and can be solved,but from this experience so far I would advise people to stay clear of Tp camera's!
