Model: Tapo C310
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

Hello,

I have a C130 webcam and I connected following the instructions.

I downloaded the Tapo app, (android), and everything is great, I can see/hear everything.

But the questions is, how can I use it if I am not home? or if I am on another wifi network?

Maybe I am missing something obvious here.

My router is an AC750 and I am fairly sure that both the router and the webcam have the latest firmware.

Maybe I changed some setting(s) here, but why is my webcam not visible unless I am on the same network?

Thanks

@Solla-topee many thanks for the feedback

I uninstalled everything and re-installed and now it is working as expected, I am not sure how I managed to block it in the first place.

Some changes I made from the default factory setup

  • I did change my router DNS from 1.1.1.1 to the Google ones.
  • I have 2 AC750, (one as normal router the other as range extender)
  • Updated the firmwares

Thanks

@FFMG  Hello,

Thank you for your valuable feedback, tapo camera could be controlled remotely when it successfully connects to router,it is possible some settings has affect camera cloud service, you could try some suggestions here:

  • Turn off or lower Modem/ router Firewall settings
  • Check if there is any Advanced settings on router like access control/ parental control settings may affect the camera
  • Change router's DNS to 8.8.8.8/ 8.8.4.4
  • Reboot camera
  • Make sure camera is connected to router directly, not through other AP or Range extenders
  • Make sure tapo firmware in tapo app and tapo APP version are both up to date
  • Try to use  3G/4G mobile data or connect phone to other outside Wi-F networks

If the same problem, may I know the model of your AC750 router (model number is on the sticker)and your network topology? Please help collect the log of camera and share with us, thank you.
