@Robintes

from Solla Toppee

Thanks for reaching out to us.

May I know how many Tapo cam do you have and what's their model?

Do you have any problems about multiple view screen? Would you please provide me more details of it?

I have 4 x C310 wifi on separate Lenovo Tablets

It is clear to me now that perhaps Tapo app intentionally cripples the app to prevent you having multiple displays within the same TP link account unless you subscribe to cloud storage ST please confirm this devious practice - the truth will come out anyway

I have only managed to get single views on my tablets for short periods say 15 to 50mins before the timestamps became seriously out of sync and screens unusable of eventually freezing so that only one view remained solid

Quad view was far worse and would freeze within 15mins - just as bad on my phone

I suggest ST that you go and try this out for yourself rather than speculating.  Its a very real problem making Tapo cams unusable for 24/7 live surveillance

Not what your advertising claims

btw all cams are ca 2m from router strong signal -45rssi pinged at 20-40ms cams on ch6 router on ch11

@Solla-topee

Dear Customer,

This is not a throttling performance, the hardware on the phone plays a important role when using softerware, not only for Tapo APP.
For example, you could try using Youtube or other video player viewing 8K, 4K resolution videos on your Tablet and see how it goes. You could also try Genshin Impact for games.

For the Tapo Camera, One C310 camera have 3MP resolution, if you viewing 4 of them at the same time, it requires 12MP decode capability for the phone.
The video decode is processed by the GPU and has very little to do with the APP itself.
Though "Gaming " quality device is not necessarily needed, we still recommend you use better device if you need decode high resolution videsos.

So what Android display device do you recommend to use with Tapo - which chipset

The network stability of the phone(Wi-Fi Chip) may also influence the performance since the phone need to receive and proceed large data when streaming high resolution videos.

I wouldnt touch 3MP video let alone 1080p they are unstable and jittery - I stay with 720p or LO res on the C200 (which is 340p!!!!!!!!!! - good enough for a door cam)
Meanwhile, thank you very much for your feedback. We will see what we can do and try to optimize this problem.

Hello @Robintes

As the Tapo camera 4 Grid view loads fine on the Moto G7 phone, but not Lenovo tablet, so far our engineer think it could be related to the tablet itself.

After check with my college, if you wish to upgrade the mobile device, please consider some new Android models with relative powerful GPU, (for reference only)  like Qualcomm 865 which advertised that could handle 8K Video Playback.

  @Solla-topee

I have a similar problem.

After installing a fourth C310 the app is failing to display (connect?) a single camera.

The cameras are on a separate WiFi with an Omada 300mbs EAP.

Before installing the fourth cam everything worked fine.

I don't have a screen with four cams at the same time.

After a reboot of the wifi acces point (Omada EAP110 outdoor) I have connection with the cams, and video (1080p) Will now try to revert to 3MP.

After reverting to 3MP, the picture freezes everytime I connected one cam to my normal WiFi router, this solved the freezing to some extend, but not 100%. I guess three cams on one Omada EAP 110 is too much. On 1080p everything is fine, but I can't recognize faces. Resolution is to low for the wide angle lens to give a shap picture when zoomed in on the app. Disappointed.
