Model: Tapo C320WS
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.20

Hi There, Bought couple of C320WS, all the cameras are hardware version 1.0. While updating the firmware, one of the camera got updated to 1.1.21 whereas the others couldn't go beyond 1.1.20, which is unusual and strage for device with same hardware version. May be older C320WS camera hardware build is not capable to take firmware version 1.1.21 where as the new hardware version can. With the 1.1.21 version, in the AI one can adjust the Person Detection sensitivity, where as this feature is available in the firmware version 1.1.20.

Is some else facing the same issue? Can TP Link or TAPO engineer solve this issue. By the way I have sent few back to the store to replace with new build camera but the store cannot find from the SNO or Build No etc which is new or old builds. The replacement lot is also unable to go beyond 1.1.20.

  @MKDa

As checked the Tapo C320WS V1 new firmware is still on the release stage, this means firmware is gradually pushed to a batch of cameras first, and gradually released to all cameras and users.  For this reason, you may find that some cameras receives an update while some camera doesn't, this is common.   It is recommended to wait for some time  like a some weeks before the firmware has been pushed to more Tapo cameras and update firmware  for camera later in the APP.

Ahh, So I dont need to return these cameras. I already did twice thinking of harware incompatibility. Generally shouldn't the TAPO firmware remote management server should fetch data on released cameras and push the updates to all the devices at a time and then its upto the device setting to update to firmware as it available. Also where can I find the version improvememt details for the 1.1.21 version.

  @MKDa

Only a small percentage of cameras will receive the update when a new firmware is released at the beginning, if there's the feedback is fine, the percentage will grow in next batch of firmware release. This help reduces the possible effect to the large of number of Tapo users as much as possible when there is any issue or bug found in the new firmware.

The firmware release note will show up when a firmware update is available in Tapo APP, not in other channels yet. As checked, the new firmware has added more sensitivity level in detection, optimized Internet connection stability and fixed some minor bugs. Hope this helps.
