Issue Description/Phenomenon:

 

Under certain scenarios, users may require to control and manage the Kasa plug or switch locally by leaving it connected to a Wi-Fi network without internet access. However, when the device detects the absence of internet access and fails to connect to the cloud server, it will automatically disconnect and then attempt to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network every 10 minutes. During this process, the LED indicator on these devices will alternate between flashing orange and green.

 

If you primarily use these smart devices on a local network with limited internet access, this reconnection process may potentially disrupt your regular usage.

 

 

Solution:

 

The production firmware for all models listed above has been released.

 

If you need to use the above Kasa switch/plug locally, please enable Internet access to your device first, detect the latest firmware through Kasa App and perform the update. How to update firmware of Kasa smart devices.

@Wayne-TP Thank you for supporting the local-only use case!  This is very important to me, and probably many other home automation enthusiasts.

 

I have purchased a few more Kasa in-wall switches to replace dumb switches, knowing that TP-Link does care about us :)

 @Wayne-TP you should just link the firmware so we can flash products we have purchased without having to provide you with serial numbers. Why isn't firmware available for download on the product page?

  @Wayne-TP Could this apply to bulbs as well? I have this issue with KL125 and KL135 bulbs. I really don't want to switch out all my 25 bulbs with a different brand or zigbee, but I really need my IoT stuff to be local only.

The models you mentioned are not among those affected by the issue described in this post. As of now, there have been no updates for the models impacted by the issue described in this post.

  @Wayne-TP The root cause may be different (unlikley) but the issue is identical. It disconnects and reconnects every 10 minutes.
I appreciate the response and suggestion to post a new issue, but unfortunately ive just decided to switch to a different brand that doesn't compromise my security by disallowing local only access.

Thanks again for your time, and I hope this is fixed for other future people at some point.

  @Mystacloud this is also a problem with the KL130.

If I'm not wrong, beta firmwares are hardcoded to each individual MAC address of the device. It would make sense to allow for easier distribution, without having to assure they would be compatible across all the devices.
