Issue Description/Phenomenon:

 

Under certain scenarios, users may require to control and manage the Kasa plug or switch locally by leaving it connected to a Wi-Fi network without internet access. However, when the device detects the absence of internet access and fails to connect to the cloud server, it will automatically disconnect and then attempt to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network every 10 minutes. During this process, the LED indicator on these devices will alternate between flashing orange and green.

 

If you primarily use these smart devices on a local network with limited internet access, this reconnection process may potentially disrupt your regular usage.

 

 

Solution:

 

Our development team is currently dedicated to optimizing this mechanism. However, if you own any of the mentioned devices and would like to use them exclusively on a local Wi-Fi network, we can offer you a beta firmware to address this issue while we continue our improvements. 

 

How to Apply for Beta Firmware?

@Wayne-TP Thank you for supporting the local-only use case!  This is very important to me, and probably many other home automation enthusiasts.

 

I have purchased a few more Kasa in-wall switches to replace dumb switches, knowing that TP-Link does care about us :)

 @Wayne-TP you should just link the firmware so we can flash products we have purchased without having to provide you with serial numbers. Why isn't firmware available for download on the product page?
