Tapo c200 rtsp and onvif not working anymore
Hi everyone
Since 2 days the tapo c200 does not have working rtsp or onvif video streams anymore. It was running since months in blueiris without any issue and then suddenly at 5.00AM in the morning the stream stopped. BlueIris, Ispy nor VLC can get a running stream. I checked I used this information form here https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/2680/ but it is identical to what was working 3 months ago in VLC or non-stop since then in blueiris. I also set a new camera account again but it did not help.
It has the newest firmware on it and auto firmware update enabled so I don't know if the newest firmware has an issue or not.
The error message VLC and all others are spitting out is "cannot connect to ipaddress...". The cam however is working in the tapo app! IP address etc. are correct and as said camera account has been reset but still no connection possible.
Does someone have an idea what the issue could be? It worked flawlessly until 2 days ago.

FOLKS!!! I've figured it out. At, least, this worked for me, it might work for you... i'l post it just in case.
I had a special character in the password '$'. Once i removed that, both V3 cameras connect fine, without issues.
Also found out the tapo series of cams will BLOCK CONNECTION ATTEMPTS FOR 30 MIN if password is entered correctly 10 times. CRAZY! I have never heard of this security feature, i certainly didn't ask for it. I guess theyre trying to protect us from repeated attempts to our cams, but I Don't think TP-Link realise how many programs like scrypted will just continually try to reconnect to a camera, so it will be blocked within a minute.
Meanwhile, the V1 and V2 cameras work fine, within scrypted, with the '$' in the password.I can add and remove V1 & v2 cameras fine to scrypted,
Also, weird, I was able to add the V3 cameras to home assistant without removing '$' from the password, however not to Scrypted. This was my first successful attempt at connecting to these V3 Cameras since i bought them a few months ago!
but V3 wouldn't work until i removed the '$' .
MY SOLUTION :
Delete any special characters in your cameras password....
Or even still, just try a full password change & full config reset.
Your camera might be blocking any attempts - so DELETE it out of your NVR / Security Program / Whatever...
Now, Wait an hour, reset the camera, give it new username and password, and then set it up in your NVR / Security Program

This did not solve the problem for me. When I restart my c200 (v1) my services can connect to it for a short period of time, but then there is no connection to rtsp possible. tapo app runs well.

In my case it is a:
1. Tapo C200 HWRev: 1.0 FW: 1.3.9
2. WIFI - 2nd Tapo C200 HWRev 3 in the same network
3. iSPY and VLC -RTSP Stream not available
After reboot there is a short period when all streams are available but then they are gone. During that time, it's also possible to discover the urls. Already tried: https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/642062?replyId=1315738

I have similar issue with C320ws v2 cam with firmware 1.1.8 (latest) that I have bought recently.
RTSP stream works fine but ONVIF events are broken.
Onvif Device Manager shows this error in Events section.:
Based on the error above, the problem is with broken SOAP contract for ONVIF API endpoint.
I also have another c320ws and c310 cams V1 both on 1.3.11 firmware that work perfectly .
All cameras have same ONVIF version - 20.06
Executing this on non-working cam brings empty reply:
curl http://192.168.0.100:2020/onvif/device_service
curl: (52) Empty reply from server
On working cam it returns meaninful response :
curl http://192.168.0.191:2020/onvif/device_service
<HTML><head><script language='javascript' type='text/javascript'> function jump(){location.href='http://192.168.0.191/';}</script></head><body onload="jump()">Please wait...</body></HTML>
Hope it helps to diagnose the issue.

I bought a C210 a couple days ago. Unfortunately, at first I made a firmware upgrade.
The cam works fine with the app, but not with the NVR.
The NVR finds the C210, but can't connect to it.
nmap finds four open ports:
443, should be the admin page, but don't work. Firefox shows an error page, wget loops to connect.
554, the rtsp port. Can't connect with VLC, with or without username:password, with or without additional port, stream1 or stream2, nothing works
2020, the onvif port, the request /onvif/device_service returns correct, but with a link to the nonworking admin port
8800, no idea what this is
Now to my understanding of security devices, they are SECURITY devices and need NOT to talk tho the Internet, but if I block
the Internet connectivity of this device, it stops working! what?????

Hi,
1. You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if you can't set up the RTSP/ONVIF connection successfully.
What can I do if fail to stream the Tapo camera via the RTSP/ONVIF protocol?
Please let me know the test results of the above steps if the problem remains.
2. The security camera means we take measures, such as encryption and TLS technology, to protect the camera system from unauthorized access, tampering, or interception of the transmitted data. Usually, if you block the internet from the camera, the features of the camera that require internet will not work, such as remote control, notification, etc.
The four ports are related to different services on the camera, but only ports 554 and 2020 relate to the RTSP/ONVIF stream. Btw, the port 443 is not for the admin page since the Tapo camera does not have web UI.
