Hardware Version: V1

Firmware Version: Latest

I have a 512GB class 10 micro SD card in the camera and sn active Tapo premium subscription.

I have noticed during a local Internet outage that the camera doesn't record locally when Internet is down.

So to test this, I disable WiFi in the house, went outside to cause motion and the red recording light came on.

Re-enabled the WiFi and no content had been recorded to the SD card!.

Same test with WiFi working and it records every time.

This is a ridiculous design or is this a fault? The camera should always save to the SD card under Internet loss

Hi,
The problem may be related to the camera settings, please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Please go to the camera's Device Settings>Storage & Recording>microSD Card page and send me a picture of this page. Then back to the Storage & Recording>Recording Schedule page and send me a picture of it.

2. Please go to the Detection page and send me a picture of this page.

3. On the camera's Live View>Playback & Download>Playback page, please tap the SD card icon, select the date, and then check if you can see the detection video recordings saved when the camera has no internet.

this is the view of the SD card when Internet was down for 3 days. No recordings, yet constant movement in view of the camera including a busy road that creates 30+ recordings a day

Hi,
In this situation, please refer to the link below to collect the camera's log when the problem happens and then send it to me for further analysis.
How to get the log of Tapo Camera?

You can disconnect the internet cable to your router or turn off your router's Wi-Fi to reproduce the issue, and then move in front of the camera to ensure there are motions can be detected.
