Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 1.3.11

Hi!

I bought a Tapo C110 camera because it was advertised as being capable of streaming via RTSP, however I have not been able to achieve this yet.

First, I configured a fixed IP address to the C110 camera (192.168.0.114) from my Archer C80 router. Then, I created an account by going Settings>Advanced Settings>Camera Account from the Tapo app.

Afterwards, I went to VLC and entered the following URLs:

  1. rtsp://admin123:password123@192.168.0.114:554/stream1
  2. rtsp://admin123:password123@192.168.0.114:554/stream2
  3. rtsp://admin123:password123@192.168.0.114/stream1
  4. rtsp://admin123:password123@192.168.0.114/stream2

However I always get the error:

VLC is unable to open the MRL 'rtsp://admin123:password123@192.168.0.114:554/stream1'. Check the log for details.

I have tried to ping the camera (.114) from my PC (.113) and it is not able to reach it:

C:\Users\User>ping 192.168.0.114

Pinging 192.168.0.114 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 192.168.0.113: Destination host unreachable.

Reply from 192.168.0.113: Destination host unreachable.

Reply from 192.168.0.113: Destination host unreachable.

Reply from 192.168.0.113: Destination host unreachable.

Ping statistics for 192.168.0.114:

  Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),

I also followed this workaround that I saw in another post, which consists of turning off ALG RTSP from the Archer 80 router:

https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/616996?replyId=1290134

however this did not work either, any suggestions?

Additional notes:

  • I have the latest firmware installed on the camera
  • I have tried different VLS versions (windows, mac and ubuntu)
  • I have disabled the firewall on windows and mac without success.
  • I do not have cloud storage
  • I do have a micro SD card on the camera.
  • If I open the tapo app, I can view the live stream, I also confirm that the fixed IP address in the tapo device info is the same as the one configured on my router (.114).

Thanks!

  @Cold183

Hi,
Generally, you can refer to the link below to troubleshoot if fail to set up the RTSP stream.
What can I do if fail to stream the Tapo camera via the RTSP/ONVIF protocol?

In your situation, please help confirm the following information for further analysis.
1. Can you manage the Tapo camera locally and remotely via the Tapo app?
2. Please check if your router has enabled some special settings, such as AP isolation, access control, etc. so that the PC connects to the same router as the camera can't ping the camera successfully.

Best Regards

  @Cold183

Try this site  https://www.tp-link.com/ca/support/faq/2680

or google  "how to view Taop Camera on a PC through RTSP"

I have the C320WS and the RTSP stream was working then stopped.

I contacted support and they asked to you use the SD card or The cloud.

I said I use the SDCARD. They then asked if I enable the Tapo Cloud Care plan.

I said no, but I noticed I enabled it accidentally. I disable the trial period and restarted

the camera and it worked. You can't have the Cloud and SD inserted at the same time, have to use one or the other.

Also they said TAPO Cameras with Batteries do not support the RTSP streams..

To open the stream use

rtsp://your ip addess/stream1  (high quality)

rtsp://your up addres/stream2 (low quality)

to find your cameras IP open the app

Click Home bottom left

click your camera

top right click the gear

under camera click Device Info

Ip is listed there...

Hope this helps

Tapo Also has Live chat support..
